Since my upgrade to 6.1.12.0 my OS X output is getting worse. I experience some mayor performance issues / stalls / kernel panics / BCD's with this latest ESET build i.c.w. mostly online orientated programs:
1. iCloud Drive
2. OneDrive
3. KPN Backup Online
4. DropBox
Even the ESET CSP process got a red flag in Activity Monitor.
Can somebody please give me some directions how this is possible and even better, how to prevent this re-occuring? V5 was a great version for me i.c.w. with OS X 10.10.5.

TIA for your help, I just can't comprehend that an upgrade of the ESET software is such a downgrade in user benefits.
Cheers
BTW: ESET, could you please merge both subforums for Mac OS X (standard- & pro edition), or are there some mayor differences in both versions that there has to be two of them. I find it very confusing in reading this support site.

Hi @planet,
I'm back-on-track again!I rebooted and DID NOT activate the iCloud Drive,
resulting in a very stable OS X 10.10.5 again. Untill I upgrade to the El Capitan stable version OS X 10.11.2/3 , I'll skip the iCloud Drive. Thanks a lot for your directions, glad I got it fixed for now!
Cheers

Did you restart Yosemite after setting exclusions for changes to take affect? Tried Disabling Real-time Protection and seeing if that temporarily helps as the cause? Have you considered upgrading to El Capitan which no longer needs the exclusions and has better integration with iCloud?
Hi Planet,
Thanks so much for your directions:
1. I rebooted my Mac after the installment of ECSP v6.1.12.0;
2. Will trie disabling Real-time Protection and seeing if that temporarily helps as the cause;
3. NO, I won't upgrade to OS X El iMESS yet, to many bugs and issues in the OS X 10.11.1 release, waiting for the release of OS X 10.11.2/3. For me (a lot of issues with known pro-applications) upgrading just for ECSP v6.1.12.0 wouldn't be a wise decision!
Nevertheless your help is much appreciated and I'll keep you posted about the outcome of the [disabling Real-time Protection] tweak!
Cheers

After upgrading from v5 to ECSP v6.1.12.0 I tonight activated my iCloud Drive, sending my OS in a direction I did'nt hope for! My cMP 5.1 OS X 10.10.5 became totally irresponsive, flag a lot of root proccesses in RED!
Turned it off to get some help from here guys! Any directions to solve this biggest problem ever I encountered using ESET CSP, greatly appreciated!.
BTW: I put the folders listed above in the exclusion zone for real-time scanning.
TIA & Cheers

As stated in the post header, did I miss that? Can't seem to find it in the ESET Cyber Security Pro (Mac) section, or any other section on this forums.
EDIT: Upgraded last night both the Mac & PC versions. The Mac version is lightning fast, no awful lags when booting and/or shutting down anymore, much lower cpu usage overall. GREAT UPGRADE thanks ESET. My last upgrade was in 2014 to v5 The PC version v9, I upgraded with Live Update, no problems encountered.
Note for ESET: Is there a way to program in all updates/grades a (warning) feature to backup / copy+paste all firewall settings to another directory? Or is it not possible to import V8 settings in V9 (PC) and V5 settings in V6 (Mac) , because of the changes made 'under-the-hood' so called engines?
I need to do some more reading (guides) for both releases, but hey what the heck... it's almost winter so no need for me to go outside!
Cheers

Just visited both and it looks like it's working okay. Is it working for you now too?
Again it was a Chrome issue.... FireFox was oke!

I'm able to connect to new Wi-Fi networks as well as my iPhone's hotspot just fine with ECSP installed (regular updates). It also prompts for zones immediately after connecting. In this case it may be best to get specialised help with this from Tomas if you are willing to reinstall it for a moment to collect the log files, or continue to wait until a number of issues are fixed which may help with yours (in particular the issues with esets_pfw). I would also maybe try using ECS in the mean time (your license will still work).
I suspect I'll wait for the issues to be fixed as I am loathed to reinstall the product again.
I also await their uninstaller removing all ESET related files properly as post install I still found files in various locations on the system (I know they were not there before the install as I'd cleaned them when I uninstalled last time).
Hi,
What files are left behind after a uninstall?

Just wanted to say thanks to ESET for fixing the number of major issues with ECS & ECSP, especially with the shutdown issue and problems with esets_proxy. Will continue to update this topic on the first post for the last few things here and there that need to be certain it has been fixed after a few days of using ECSP, but it looks positive!
Great thread and KUDOS to @planet and all others participating here. What are still the main (crull pit) issue with release 6.1.12.0 of ECSP for Mac? My ECSP 5.0.115.0 is working perfect, except for the shutdown lag.
Cheers
-
Thanks @PLanet for your info's. Will upgrade to the 6.1.12.0 version soon!
Cheers

You can change the timeout, edit the file /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.eset.esets_daemon.plist
You do this at your own risk though as I am not totally sure of the side effects.
I did have a go last year when I noticed the issue (and just tried it again now by altering the 'ExitTimeOut' to 10 seconds from its default 65 seconds), but it still didn't change the shutdown duration for me. I think this is because although the plist file is named with the process 'esets_daemon', in the file it actually is for a different process, esets_ctl.
It's probably best to wait until ESET releases the major ECS/ECSP update around El Capitan's release soon.
Hi planet,
I've high respect for your inputs and troubleshooting here on the forums, BUT would you accept waiting 9+ months to get your car fixed (whilst under guarantee) because of all those season holidays? "The computer sais NO!"?????
That's NOT how I see IT businesses are run ATM.....
Cheers
-
No one from ESET gave me such a solution. They never offered an internal build that addressed the issue. I wouldn't have wasted the last X months of the subscription with the laptop unprotected. Why is it a company is so big that one side does not know what the other is doing?
ESET should NEVER EVER find an excuse with the 3rd party (Apple) OS X 10.10.x or 10.11.x Shame on you ESET, If you can sell it, maintenance your product for 100% customer satisfaction.
You're running a business with clients that have high regards of you. Addressing the issues with the software you make, by blaming a 3rd party OS like Apple or MS is not quite how I see a business is run right. If you sell, stand by your customers who provide you income to take home and FIX those damn issues that are making our head spin for 9+ MONTHS now. The same amount of time it took Apple to develop a new sequel to the OS X family, OS X 10.11 El Captitan! (???)
Come on ESET....., get a hold and firm grip on your in-company workflows and think twice before throwing such lame excuses at customers, as if the issues mentioned were reported only a few weeks ago.
I'm for sure a very disappointed customer atm!
Cheers

If you are running the latest version of Cyber Security Pro (6.0.14.0), the uninstaller has been relocated to the 'Helpers' folder instead of the Resources folder mentioned above.
Alternatively, if you still have the downloaded dmg file you installed Cyber Security Pro with, you can open it and launch the uninstaller from there.
THNX, Good additional info's for newer versions!

WHEN????????????????????????????????????????
Peter already mentioned a rough date to you a few days ago:
https://forum.eset.com/topic/4607-eset-cyber-security-pro-for-mac-osx-10102-14c1514/
Hello,
the service release is planned for the end of Q2 of 2015, but no promises everything depends on development, localization and testing resources.
Regards,
P.R.
I know how frustrating it is considering it's been over one year since the last major release and six months since the last minor build, but there has been a lot of bugs/issues to take care of and I'm certain that ESET wants this next release to address as much as possible and for it to be very reliable and stable. As I said in previous posts, a brand new product named Endpoint Security for OS X was released this year for businesses (similar to Cyber Security Pro), and based on that release, they have been fixing a lot of the issues we have been having and more.
Hi Planet,
Do you happen to have a link for "Endpoint Security for OS X"?
Cheers
-
A bug was found that might cause shutdown to take longer with ECS 6.0.14 installed. It should be addressed in future builds of ECS which will be announced via standard channels as well as in this forum.
WHEN????????????????????????????????????????
-
Thanks @Peter for your reply. Looking forward to the new release!
Cheers

Someone from ESET can respond about the release date for the next build, but I can answer regarding how the current build is with 10.10.2. There has been a lot of module updates since the release and along with OS X updates for Yosemite, having both Cyber Security Pro and OS X up to date is quite bearable now.
As of April 2014 (with OS X 10.10.2 and ECSP 6.0.14.0 all up to date), the two major issues you could experience until the next build is:
- esets_proxy will crash or freeze and not be able to restart, meaning Web Protection, Anti-Phishing and Parental Controls do not work and leaves you slightly unprotected.
- Shutdown is delayed due to a bug.
Otherwise, you shouldn't experience any other major issues... there are a few more in the pinned topic (also shown in my forum signature) which is constantly updated regarding this. Going into the update settings and selecting pre-release updates can also help with this current build.
Most issues are fixed and resolved in the recent release of ESET Endpoint Security for OS X (6.0.24.0) this year which hopefully means that they will also provide these fixes to ESET Cyber Security and Cyber Security Pro in the next build.
Hi Planet,
Again I salut you for your reply, GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I'll hold for this update for now and await the next release, to have fixed your mentioned issues.
I hope someone from ESET could reply to my question about the scheduled new release.
Cheers
-
Hey all,
It's been almost 6 months ago when ESET released v 6.0.14. Is there any news on a new mayor release update that will have adressed al known issues. And how about the reviews and performance of tis current version 6.0.14 in OSX 10.10.2 (14C1514)?
Just curious.....
TIA & Cheers

Hi planet,
Great thread, thanks for your effort and time! BUT, on the other hand it keeps me from upgrading to v6.0.14.0. Any idea when ESET will fix all bugs and issues, do you have direct contact with the techies at ESET?
Thanks again and cheers!
-
As stated above, it's a potentially unwanted application. If you think that benefits of using the PUA outweigh possible risks (e.g. paying for nothing which is often the case of registry "cleaners"), you can exclude the application from detection. Otherwise you should be able to uninstall it in a standard manner via the Control panel or the Start menu.
Thanks Marcos!
Indeed the file is linked/installed to/by CCleaner.
UNINSTALLED IT!!!
Kudos to you!
