I see AV tests as great for marketing purposes but for little else. Many of the highest scoring AV vendors have dedicated test departments to ensure they get great test scores. I'm yet to read a sponsored AV report in which the sponsor fared badly.

People would swap their AV based on test results which I never understood. Has a product failed you in the real world? If not, why change? Has the AV product caused issues with your PC? If not, why change?
It's like changing cars because one car is faster to 100 km/h (or 60 MPH) or quarter mile in a group test. What about all the other aspects?
I use Eset because its never failed me, never perceptively slowed my PC down, never deleted key files due to a virus definition update error and never blue-screened my PC.
I'll take zero false positives, low system impact, little to no feature bloat (an area some AV suites go overboard with 'extra' features) and zero real world issues vs a high test score with FP's, system drag and whatever else it takes to be #1.

So what are the reasons why you keep using ESET? I guess it's personal experience and not just test results.

Since tests are quite costly, it's at vendor's discretion to decide in which paid test they will participate.

Eset doesn't release full betas much. Sometimes there might be benefits but usually the main thing is trying something before it is released, checking for bugs and giving feedback. Anyone can generally join these betas.
Another kind of beta also exists for active forum users. These do include things like 15.1 and so on but often these betas will see new features before anyone even knows what they are.
This is ran by @Peter Randziak but as mentioned I belive to be considered you need to be a regular active forum user. There are sometimes benefits but I'm reluctant to really give much information as everyone using this beta has to sign an NDA

We cannot stop validating certificates.
We don't do it because some browser might do certificate validation incorrectly. We do it because if TLS scanning is active for a particular web site, a browser cannot validate the original certificate of that site. (Note: As already discussed previously, we validate certificates also in several cases when TLS scanning is not active for a web page in question.)
What would happen if we stopped validating certificates can be simulated like this:
As per https://help.eset.com/eis/15/en-US/?idh_config_epfw_ssl_known.html add the certificate for https://untrusted-root.badssl.com/ and set the Access action to Allow. This way, the server's certificate will be considered valid by our product with the same effect as if we didn't validate it. (Note: As already mentioned, the revoked certificates won't be considered valid even if configured so.) Then try to open that web site. It will succeed.

According to Wikipedia, we use "TLS termination proxy" of "TLS Bridging" type in order to be able to do TLS scanning.

Also it is not clear what you meant by " I miss the success of ESET 2002 - 2007". Please clarify as to what you meant because ESET is a successful company with products being enriched with new protection and technology features on a regular basis.
