Questions & Comments

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am a former Windows user that switched to Linux (Ubuntu) over a year ago so I am familiar with ESET and their great Reputation.

And even though Linux technically doesn't really need an Antivirus program I do share files with Windows users and I still have one Windows based computer that I use as a Media Center that I transfer files to that I want to make sure that are not infected.

There are quite a few Linux Antivirus programs to chose from and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 for Linux seems to be the best of the bunch and one of the best things is that it eliminates Windows, Linux and Mac OS X malware so it gives me piece of mind for my Linux computers as well.

Plus there are Browser based Java and Flash exploits that even Linux users need to be protected from.

Most of the Linux Antivirus programs out there only detect Windows malware.

I do have a couple of questions and comments about the product though.

Are there any plans for a new version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux?

Or plans for a Cyber Security or Smart Security version with more features?

Version 4 for Linux has been out for quite a while now and the Mac version is at 5 and the Windows version is up to 7.

With the release of Steam for Linux and the SteamOS which is Linux based it might be a good idea to add the Gamer Mode to the ESET Linux Antivirus.
