  1. earlier today I sent a support request from eset smart security itself (not the online web form). I just received a response to my mail that it wasn't delivered.

I can give the copy of the email I got to a moderator or other eset employee, so you can look at it.

one line says "Unauthenticated email from yahoo.com is not accepted due to domain's 550-5.7.1 DMARC policy". it also refers something about google and gmail.

  2. I chose to uninstall Eset Nod32 antivirus. Those reminder where popping up at unconvenient times and kept nagging me.

    It was all to unbearable.

I'll be now less protected, I'm aware of that (but I'll be protected ito some extent) I liked the way eset worked for me, I just don't like being bullied.

the you should renew your license so you don't get annoyed by the message

  3. eset must start with windows, don't mess with 'msconfig'.

one workaround I found is to go to advanced setup, then go to "computer" then HIPS and remove the checkmark from "Enable Hips" and "Enable self-defence".

that way eset won't interfere with the restore process.

that is until the system re is restored and the options will be enabled again. but the restore will successfully complete.

(the company is aware and we wait for a fix)

  4. of course not, eset has nothing to do with the reason I formatted my pc.

i restored the pc back and forth two times and this may have damaged some critical system files, even "startup repair" couldn't fix it.

let's return to the topic. i'm pretty sure that HIPS (and maybe self-defence) are locking files and that causes the restore to fail at the beginning.

that's why disabling HIPS allowed it to complete.

  5. my OS is 32bit and I downloaded the 32bit version of 8.0.304.1.

upon installation it checks and downloads the latest version, when it finishes and start it, it says that my processor type is not supported.
digging through the logs files in the temp directory I saw that it mistakenly downloads the 64bit.
