    Betta is like an Airplane prototype. But can security software do the same? Why not? It is ok to roll out beta OS, medications, countries, ecosystems and world orders even before a GUI is developed. It is just the matter of enthusiastic or unaware test pilots.. =

    The English word, although not that emotionally charged, is ‘counterproductive’. Imho the better one is is ‘Chalta hai’, a Hindi expression that roughly translates to "it's okay" or "slide" or "slack". It reflects a laid-back attitude towards work and perhaps life itself, when problems are ignored or not sufficiently addressed .

    Yes, Licensing is another issue. I used to be a reseller but cheap OEM deals were removed and prices jacked. Sure it created a revenue stream from end users in a short run. But that collapsed promoting and supporting cycles a year - two long.. Imho it now bounced in the product quality now.

    The Germans have a wonderful word concoction for such actions.
    "Verschlimmbessern"  To make something worse by improving.
    To improve something that works just fine so long and so often until it becomes useless and dysfunctional.
    I seriously have to take into consideration if I can continue to recommend ESET to clients.

    Not going to renew, half my subscription wasted. Maybe one day when they get their ducks lined up I will come back.

    Can we have ESET provide an official downgrade version link of EIS version 16.1.14?
    Very frustrated over the whole firewall debacle, with v17 being solution doesn't help current affected users.

    Since 16.2.11.0 Interactive Firewall mode prompt does not pass Remote computer and Remote port values to the rule creating window.

    The only option left is to allow Any for this program. That defeats the purpose of the interactive firewall.
    Plus, accessing rules requires more clicks. And 16.2 rules table missing ports and protocols columns.

    Default (pre-defined) rules are still there:

    Another notable ver. 16.2 firewall change you should be aware of. If you are using Eset default firewall settings, you can ignore the rest of this posting.
    Prior to ver 16.2, individual Win services could be disabled in the firewall as noted below. This option no longer exists in the ver. 16.2.

    Assuming one was using the Eset Private (trusted) profile, one could disable known vulnerable and abused services such as file and printer sharing, UPnP, and remote desktop, etc.. This resulted in the applicable default firewall rules for these disabled services being auto changed to rules employed when the Public profile is in effect.
    As it currently stands in ver. 16.2, your only alternative is to disable Eset applicable default firewall rules for the service and create new ones to block inbound network traffic.

    Another important point to note in ver. 16.2 in regards to firewall profiles is you're not just adding a new profile per se; but in reality, a new network connection;

    This is a radical departure from ver. 16.1 firewall profile processing in that a profile was tied to an existing Eset network connection;

    No... We are a reseller and I can tell you that the update is a disaster. All applications that worked properly until then are blocked. Since the 16.2.11.0 update, we have been receiving a lot of calls. Setting up the firewall interactively requires the same exclusions continuously. This is an unmanageable situation and your support is overwhelmed, I waited 30 minutes before I could speak to someone who had no solution.

    I had to downgrade to 16.1.14 and block EIS from making version update, current 16.2.x is unusable, I couldn't use any software that makes online license checks, they were all having timeouts and closing, making me loosing my work.

    Yes I realize that and I have that enabled and did on the prior version and once it updated to the latest version the notification shown below quit popping up and asking what I wanted to do.

    After this recent update a few days ago I no longer get any windows that popup when I have rules set to interactive.

    I have to go into Setup >  Network Protection > Resolve Blocked Communication and unblock the program trying to access the internet.

    Seem to be going backwards as far as usability.
