Hello Remulus,
make sure, that you are editing correct settings. It depends on version of the product (line v.3 and line v.4 VS. Endpoint line v.5).
So edit settings in Windows product live v2 and v4 when you are changing configuration of ESET Smart Security / NOD 32 Antivirus Business edition and edit settings in Windows desktop v5 when you are changing configuration of ESET Endpoint Security / ESET Endpoint Antivirus.

could you please try to install ESET Endpoint Security 5.0.2214.x, you could download it here.
With this version we are not aware of any prevalent cause of BSOBs so if you encounter one please provide us with SysInspector log from affected system and full memory dump for analysis.

set "Suppress user settings" option to "Yes" when sending configuration task and/or in policy.
Could you see the setting correctly set on the endpoint after this change?
P.S. make sure, that you are editing correct branch (Windows desktop v5 not Windows product live v3 and v4) in configuration editor

we are aware that Unity desktop environment is being widely used by Linux users and therefore we added support for it in the latest release of ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 for Linux Desktop (4.0.79.0).

we are aware of this issue, but the development is pretty overloaded right now so we cannot guarantee any precise timeframe for delivery of fix for this issue.
