  1. That would be really nice! I've actually tried just the basic uninstall task and that fails too. It seems (from just glancing at the logs) that the uninstaller is looking for a file that isn't on my system at all. One of the things i was thinking of trying was to see if just creating a blank file at the location it's looking for would be enough to trick it into working. Though when it 'fails' it has succeeded enough in removing the previous install that it is considered 'uninstalled' for ERA , but not removed enough that the install process does not attempt to run another uninstall process (which fails, failing the install process as well). But please take my log analysis with a grain of salt, i'm just guessing!
  2. I hear you on the paranoia front! I have to say, though, once this install issue is cleared up i'm extremely excited to move onto exploring some of the new features in ERA! Have a good one, and good luck with everything when you do take the plunge. I will continue to update my progress here to let you know how things are going (Just finished up submitting some additional logs and waiting on a reply), at least to let folks know when / how it's been cleared up. jdashn
  3. @MichalJ, I'm guessing that you can't see the ticketing system, as I have already raised a ticket (#20433) and after providing 40something mb of logs i've not been asked to provide any additional information in response yet (unless i'm not understanding something about the ticketing system and replies might come here instead of email?) I'm very confident that many systems have been updated without issue. I was confident the update on this end would go on without issue. This was not the case, hence my request here for assistance, then a move to a Ticket as requested by @MartinK via pm. Please let me know if this reply is indeed in response to the ticket i raised last week, so i can get started on collecting these additional logs for you (should i deliver them to the share file link provided to me on friday?). @avielc Honestly all of the other updates we've done have gone smoothly, and generally the support i've gotten with eset has been stellar. I'm guessing this is just a problem isolated to my environment, though it's always best practice to test before deploy to whole org, I wouldn't let my experience here stop you from upgrading! Thanks! 4. Ahh, When i was looking at the DB previously i had noticed that it didn't log logouts, so i had figured that ERA wouldn't be able to see if no one was logged in, because the DB only recorded 'who had logged in' .. at least that's how it appeared! Regardless it's awesome that the test dynamic group i had setup, is now working. Once i get the other issues i've got with installing 6.5 cleared up this should really help for deployments! Jdashn
  5. It does appear that this has been changed/updated in version 6.5 (ERA) and it does appear that you can now create a group that represents computers with no one logged into them as the DB does now record logouts! Thanks again for your help with this! And thanks to whomever saw the problem and fixed it for this new version! Jdashn
  6. After some further testing It seems that the uninstall portion of the 6.5 install does not work properly. If i attempt uninstall 6.4.2016 using the 'uninstall' button, or an uninstall software task the task fails. If I attempt to Install 6.5 over 6.4.2016 eset uninstalls the previous version, but fails at the install (leaving me with a system that has no AV installed). After either of these methods i am unable to install 6.5, and get the previously mentioned error. I have also found that if i use a previous version of the eset uninstaller tool (FileVersion 7.0.7.0) that allows the /nosafemode option (and does not uninstall the agent) and preform the uninstall a few times (first time is usually a failure) with reboots interspersed, i can uninstall 6.4, and when it's uninstalled using this method i can then install 6.5. I have not found any of the other uninstall methods leaves the system 'clean enough' for an install of 6.5. I hope this helps, Jdashn
  7. Thanks @MartinK I've sent over the log! If there is anything else i can provide, or attempt please let me know!
  8. I've got ERA 6.5 updated, and have updated the clients to the 6.5 Agent, but now i'm having a lot of difficulty in upgrading from EAV 6.4.2016 to 6.5.2094. Each time I attempt an install from ERA i get the following error: SoftwareInstallation: Installation failed with: (0x643), Fatal error during installation (0x643), , see software-install.log for more information located at: C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Agent\EraAgentApplicationData\Logs\ The logs do not appear to provide much information as to why the install failed; i can provide upon request. I am able to deploy 6.4, and able to deploy 6.4 over 5.X and able to deploy 6.5 to machines that do not have AV installed.. so i'm not understanding why there is so much difficulty installing 6.5 over 6.4 Is there something i'm missing? A file I can send over that will assist you in letting me know what needs to be done? Jdashn
  9. @whitelistCMD - It's been my experience that when moving between 6.X versions (6.2 -> 6.3, 6.3->6.4) the transitions are seamless resulting in no loss of data, no issues with authentication, etc. It was only our transition from 5.X to 6.X that provided us with headaches. I'm certainly not one to suggest that you should not backup your virtual appliance regularly (and without a doubt before major changes). I would hope to ease your fears a bit, and make the thought of this update a little less nerve wracking in this situation. On my test server I initated the components update about 30 min ago without thinking about what else might be running, etc. It ran, updated me to 6.5, and there do not seem to be any glaring issues so far... i'd even venture to say that several of the features added are quite nice.. and might reduce my workload considerably! Jdashn
  10. ESET wouldn't be in business if they modified files they scanned.. unless it's a virus/pup it is not modified. IMO it's kinda silly to turn off virus protection, moreso when connected to the internet. Are you more concerned if ESET is watching the contents of the files?
  11. Just to clarify.. i'm just looking for the same functionality... the ability to uninstall stubborn (unable to uninstall via ERA) eset installs remotely, without interaction. Im guessing it's functionality that exists somewhere, i'm just not finding it. Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!! Jdashn
  12. Good Afternoon, For quite some time we've used the EsetUninstall Tool: https://support.eset.com/kb2289/ We use it internally when we have difficulty removing a previous version of the software or need to preform an unattended uninstall/reinstall of the ESET suite (ERA to run task esetuninstall.exe /nosafemode /force) allowing us to uninstall the product when it was having problem (we've had random issues with activation and clients refusing to update properly, and other uninstall methods would not work). I've come across another machine, where i'm unable to uninstall the product, so i grabbed the uninstall tool from ESET (figuring the one i've got in our file share is outdated), and it seems that this new version has had the /nosafemode option removed. This means the uninstaller tool only works if you're physically able to be at the computer, and manually (not scripted via era) run the application? Is there a Hidden option i'm missing? Or has the functionality of this product been that significantly reduced? Is there a proper location where i can request this feature be added back in or told why it was removed? Thanks!! Jdashn
  13. Thanks! I had thought that the release date was set to be the same as the other 6.5 products that came out on the 28th, which is why they closed out 'applications' for the Closed Beta. Which of course is why i was so curious. Reference posts: Do you think that the closed beta will be opening back up with the date being different now? I'm just super curious about the new version, and the changes! Jdashn
  14. Just curious if RA 6.5 is being delayed? Do we have a new ETA? Am I just blind and missing it? Thanks, Jdashn
  15. Figured it'd be something like this.. just had to be sure i was not going insane. Is there somewhere I should be looking to see when updates like this have been applied and their change notes? Thanks!! Jdashn
  16. I am so sorry, i may be confused, or maybe just missed this in the last update... I am running ERA Version 6.4.295.0 It Appears that something has changed with ERA, while i've not preformed updates.. (outlined with the red box) I Dont seem to remember Lightning bolts instead of selecting 'Force' nor do i recall those dots.. Am I going crazy and just missed something or was there an update that happened that i didn't notice? Jdashn EDIT:: I've not run the Update Components task for over 6months, but it does appear that i'm on a newer version than i was before, does RA auto-update outside of the components upgrade task?
  17. When creating your template try using 'Device Identifiers.Identifier Value' instead of 'Computer.Name' -- This should let you use a mask or 'Contains' for your search. Jdashn
  18. The issue i have been having happens after the progress bar completes and then i'm asked to download a file. It is this file that gets downloaded and a zero byte file is produced. Is this not the problem that other people have been having? Is there more information that i can provide? thanks! Jdashn
  19. Thanks Marcos! Strange that the 32bit consistently succeeds though where the 64bit version fails but only on the download to my local machine. I imagine it's just that little extra size maybe that's pushing it over the edge? I'll keep my eyes out for a fix for the 120sec installer download timeout bug and see if the issue is resolved for us then. Jdashn
  20. Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, I hate to start another topic, but this seems strange. When i create an all in one installer from RA 6.4x I can down load the 32bit installer, but when the 64bit installer downloads, it creates a zero byte file. I have attempted with Chrome, IE, and FF and have had no success in acquiring a 64bit version. The 32bit seems to download just fine to my local machine. Is there a log file i can look for to see if something went wrong? Thanks, Jdashn
  21. So i've got a few test computers, and many many user computers. With our User machines there is likely all of the possibilities of a way a user can log off, think they logged off, reboots, etc etc etc. The test machines i know for sure that i've tested the following conditions with no success with the group as you suggested: (with windows 7 64bit enterprise, laptops, desktops - all connected to network via cable (no wireless in this test) all set to have agent report to RA every 60sec). User logged in, then log out via start menu User logged in, then logs out via start menu and reboot issued remotely User logged in, then reboots machine from start menu I'm wondering if the DB is just recording who logs into the computer and not who logs out. Which might be the logical, easier thing to code if all you are looking to do is change things based on who is logged in. Are you finding success in your environment with this query? Thanks, Jdashn
  22. Sadly no computers have joined this dynamic group, but i know we've got computers actively reporting to ERA with no users logged in. Any other suggestions? Thank you very much!!! Jdashn
  23. Thanks for the reply, I know i've tried something similar a few times using Regex. I have not tried using 'Has Mask'. I've setup a group and a template and it's applied. I've got a few test machines i have setup to report back to ERA every min so i should see some computers populate shortly (that and it's getting to be pretty late on a friday for everyone to still be in the office lol). I will let you know if i see any machines there within an hour! Thanks, Jdashn
  24. Thanks for the reply! 1. Yes this was solved in another thread -- First time poster -- I think my new thread was approved before this first post i made here. -- Totally realized I should just ask most of these questions.. as it's likely just due to my own ignorance. 2. I've actually had almost zero luck installing any version of 6x over 5x, or any version of 6x over 6x. Recent upgrade from 6.3x to 6.4x was done by using the outlined method because i could not get an attempt to install 6.4 over 6.3 to work from RA. Usual error messages referenced not being able to stop the service, or not being able to delete a file, or something similar. The only solution i've been able to find that works is to preform multiple uninstall actions using the ESETUninstaller.exe /nosafemode /force as a Run Command, and sending reboots. 3. I still have some open questions regarding the Apache HTTP proxy and how it can be setup. 4-7. Thank you for this information! Jdashn
  25. Good morning/afternoon/evening! I've heard some of the ESET staff here talk about setting up a dynamic group based on who is logged into a computer. It would be nice to setup a dynamic group of computers where No user is logged into the machine. This would be very helpful as that is one of the major deciding factors that go into whether we can start to preform a software update on a client machine. We obviously don't want to restart a user's machine while they're using it. Is there a way to setup a dynamic group that contains computers with no users logged into it? How often does eset check this information (the same time it reports to ERA, or?)? Thanks Jdashn
