  1. As long as you keep ESET installed on the number of computers covered by your license, you don't need to be concerned about deactivation or license overuse.

That's the best thing about ESET and is the main reason I don't buy Kaspersky products, 3 activations and baam, they blacklist the license.

    Thank you sir.

  2. so I just formatted and installed ESET NOD32 Antivirus v10.0.169.0 (x64) (Beta) which I had saved the installer from the previous update temp folder.

It then asked me to activate it using my license not the beta license which is fine, I have a 7 user / 7 year license

now when my system was activated, it said Activated: system name: CHRONOS-1. Does that mean that the previous activation for my computer name CHRONOS is still somewhere? like why is there a -1 after CHRONOS?

I am just worried that the previous activation is now taking one of my activation seats.

how does one delete old activations anyway?

  3. after this update everything went to hell. system will not shut down i get exception address errors, the eset firewall no longer working even after a restart, bsod etc..

I never used my system after the upgrade, I was actually just about to restore an image using Macrium Reflect so I did a clean install of the new BETA and it's been perfect

  4. I figured I should also note that when I tried to install the downloaded file on my desktop (10.0.169.0) without upgrading it prompted me for activation instead of giving a beta license. As I have a valid license for ESS, it worked so I am ok with that. Just something you may encounter if you want to clean install it.

    thanks for the tip champ.

  5. Hello,

in case you are not able to upgrade to the new version (it notifies you, but nothings happen after clicking on the upgrade button) please

    1. take Procdump from ekrn right after the issue manifests (download Procdump tool from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspxrun cmd as an administrator and run procdump -ma ekrn)

    2. collect logs by means of ESET log collector as described here: hxxp://support.eset.sk/kb3466/?viewlocale=en_US

Pack these two logs, upload them to a safe location and send me a download link with reference to this forum topic, we will check it.

    Thank you, P.R.

That didn't work due to denied access when running the command:

so here is the final solution to install the latest update thanks to xxJackxx:

1- While NOD32 is running, go to the start menu > ESET, then right click on ESET NOD32 Antivirus icon and choose run as admin.

2- This will re-launch the GUI in Admin Mode with full privileges

3- Now run the update again and you will immediately notice it is actually downloading the files then will proceed with the installation.

4- Reboot when prompted to do so to complete the installation

Note: If you want to save the installer for future use, it is located in: C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Installer and is named: NUPEFEF.msi

this way you can install the latest version in the future right away

  8. The lack of a response is causing me to lose interest rapidly. Even a "Yes, it's broken, we're looking into it" might stop me from moving on to something else. There are other products in beta... :D

yeah, I sent a bug report, tweeted a message to ESET, seems like no moderator on the forum is active.

Since we are doing ESET a favor by using a BETA to participate in perfecting this AV, the least I expect is some more interaction/attention from the ESET staff.

Surprising comeback from ESET after it has been in the mid-range performance level for more than 4 years, its getting lighter just like the old days.

Avira at the top just like last quarter, solid performance from Kaspersky/Avast as usual...

Windows Defender/Mcafee/Trend Micro are a big no no for people seeking a light AV that doesn't cripple their machine.

Unlike AV-TEST, these performance tests according to my experience really represent the true story.

  10. I've scanned the file but no virus was reported. All I got was a report of a suspicious application (SecurityUnifier.exe - a variant of MSIL/Packed.Confuser.J suspicious application) which is far from the definition of virus or malware per se. If something is suspicious because it was packed or protected using a packer/protector often misused by malware authors to evade detection, don't wonder that it will be reported as suspicious by AV scanners.

You can report it to the ESET Security Research Lab as per the instructions at hxxp://support.eset.com/kb141/.

    submitted to ESET

  11. This just got released, upon extracting the ZIP file, NOD32 deletes it saying it's a virus.

    See:

    https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25952/eng/SecurityUnifier.zip

    Main Page: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25952/Intel-Security-Unifier

Intel® Security Unifier utility version 1.0.0.657 enables users to scan their computing devices for the latest security software components available from Intel.

These are the software components included in the utility:

    • Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME)
    • Intel® Identity Protection Technology (Intel® IPT)
    • Intel® Dynamic Application Loader (Intel® DAL)
    • Intel® Technology Access (Intel® TA)

This is what is required to install and use the utility:

    • A broadband Internet connection is required to use this utility.
    • Operating system requirements for installation: This application installs on Windows* 7, Windows* 8, Windows* 8.1, and Windows® 10.
    • We recommend to perform a Windows update to bring your operating system up to date with the latest .NET.

  12.

I feel NOD32 v10 is ready to be final. It's better than v9 in every way, performance, stability, GUI

Think I may give this a go after your comments Phoenix.

Did you do a clean install or install over v9 ?

I never do that. After installing Windows and all my stuff, I take an image using Macrium Reflect and name that image "Before AV" then I play with whatever AV I want.

To me, nothing beats a pure fresh install so if I do face any issue, I don't sit and think hmmmm, maybe it was because of a conflict of the previous AV

    just my 2 cents

  13. I think this is caused by a small change that affected only benchmarks, not real-world use.

if you notice my sig, I have the 950 Pro. Remember that user who complained about slow performance with the 950 Pro?

    https://forum.eset.com/topic/7072-nod32-90318-slows-down-samsung-pro950-per-magician-benchmark/

Never experienced that but it's working perfectly with NOD32 v10 :)

I submitted a recommendation to the ESET Team:

Please allow multiple location exclusions like in Avast Antivirus. I don\'t want to go to C:\\Program Files again and again to add different program folders one by one that I want to be excluded. Can you please make the exclusions interface a checkbox list so we can select multiple locations simultaneously?
  14. Finally, you have managed to bring back the days of the light NOD32 v2, look at the benchmarks of before and after. Mind you, in wPRIME, the lower the time, the better, but that is a very small fraction of a second hit whereas with other AVs the hit is higher at around an increase of 0.5 to 1.5 seconds on the time needed by wPRIME to run the test

  15. it always shows me to update (mainly hardware), but when i press the icon to update winodws, no updates to be found.

    it always resumes after restart.

    any solution?

Just turn off the notifications for Windows Updates in the settings. I find it very annoying how ESET wants to control what updates I install! leave my freakin' computer alone! I don't want the Micro$h43ft crappy updates!
