  3. I'm disappointed that there was no improvement made to the exclusions UI. I suggested in the ESET Changes/Wishlist thread that if we can have a checkbox UI to select multiple items at the same time like for example Trustport Antivirus has as it makes it very easy to whitelist a few programs in one shot but ESET isn't taking its users recommendations/suggestions seriously.

To me this V11 looks exactly the same as V10 and can we see the UEFI scanner or is it something that happens in the background during the boot process?

    Hello Phoenix,

that is probably caused by the Gamer mode so to prevent that from happening, just disable it.

We plan to change the detection of triggers for Gamer mode activation in the future, but as I can see your HW configuration you do not need Gamer mode at all :-)

    Regards, P.R.

all I want is an AV that doesn't come in the way of my workflow. I just don't need it to give me a warning for every video that I open . I open more like 100s of videos daily and getting that notification everytime I exit the video is annoying. I'll disable Gamer mode for now and see how it goes

Does temporarily disabling protocol filtering in the advanced setup make a difference? If not, what about renaming "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\ekrnEpfw.dll" in safe mode?

sorry, I am an idiot, I had enabled Smart Connect in my ASUS RT-AC88U router which is *supposed* to allocate devices to the best band so it was allocating my laptop to the 2.4GHz band as the range on the 2.4 GHz is better since my laptop is a bit far away from the router.

I then disabled Smart Connect and manually connected to the 5GHz band and the speed is back to normal.

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for your answer. At lunch break, back at home, I just checked for available upgrades but Eset told me that I was up to date, so I suppose I have latest release. I will verify this evening...

    Regards

update it manually to the latest version. ESET's built in upgrade sucks, it's always late to the party

Home licenses are not managed via a web interface yet. We only have ESET License Administrator portal for managing business licenses for v6+ products. In the future, we plan to have a similar portal for home users too.

However, that does not mean that we have no control over overuse. Distributors can contact you if overuse is detected and take the appropriate measures if the license has leaked to the public.

I know, but as I mentioned, ESET Tweeted about a new My.ESET Beta from where I was able to manage my license and I saw all the previously activated computers and it had a lot of duplicates and told me I was overusing my license by 5 PCs. I just can't find that link anymore that ESET tweeted

  8. A few weeks back, I saw a tweet on ESET's Twitter account that said try the new My.ESET Beta, so I clicked the link, logged in, and in the new BETA Web interface, there was a devices section. Upon clicking it, it told me that I am over exceeding the usage of my license by 5 computers which I am not.

I have a 10 PC License valid until 2020 and am only using it on 5 PCs, the over the limit count was for some same PCs activated twice despite me having had uninstalled them in the past.

Unlike what Mr. Marcos said that ESET manages the misuse of license by the IP Address of where the updates are initiated from, this was not the case. So I went there and deleted the duplicate activations which were for example, my PC name is TITAN, so there was a TITAN, then TITAN-1, then TITAN-2, etc.

While that was all good and I cleaned up the mess, recently, I had to format a few times so I did uninstall NOD32 but I don't want this exceeding the usage of my license again to happen and I cannot for the life of me find the my.eset Beta page that I used to manage my devices. The regular my.eset now only has options for anti-theft, social media scanner, and that's it.

How can I manage my license now? anyone has the link for the my.eset beta?

  9. I was trying to download a few files and I noticed that my download speed is unusual so I ran several tests on speedtest.net and my 100MBPS download connection was giving me 480-50MBPS only but my upload was unaffected (20 MBPS)

So I then paused the NOD32 protection and tested again, no change. I have bad experience in the past with this pause protection not really doing its thing so I went ahead and uninstalled NOD32 and rebooted and what do you know, the internet speed is back up to 100 MBPS

To make things worse, I just upgraded my license from a 7 PC to a 10 PC License valid until 2020 :(

All I want is a good file scanner and nothing that slow my internet connection

This is on the latest stable build of Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 15063.483

  10. Another suggestion, I was using Emsisoft Anti-Malware for a while and I love how easy it is to whitelist/exclude files with it.

The reason it's easier in EAM is because once you exclude a certain file or folder, the next time you open the exclude button, it automatically navigates to the last folder you were in.

so let's say I went to C:\Program Files, then selected a folder to exclude, the next time I open exclusions to browse for the file/folder I want to exclude, it automatically starts the navigation in C:\Program Files making it very easy to whitelist the folders of programs I definitely want to exclude rather than having to start navigating from the beginning and going to C:, then expanding it, then again expanding Program Files. Takes a lot of time when one has a lot of stuff he wants to exclude.

Another way we can do it is to have a checkbox selection in the exclude window so one can exclude multiple folders and/or files at the same time

It fixes several crashes as well as fonts in the Russian version. Also please let us know what leads home users to pause protection. Could you clarify?

Every AV in the world has the pause feature and NOD32 has always had it. I see no point in removing it.

why would I need it for example? when updating drivers for example, I like having the AV off to not interfere at all with my driver installation. Another reason is when I am installing my Adobe CS Suite, they are large installation of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc. With NOD32 being disabled, the installation goes much faster and I know they are clean as they're genuine.

Now I understand it is not something you do on a daily basis, but still, keeping the feature which was always there and is there in all other AVs makes more sense.

  12. So I just did a clean Windows 10 install the other day.

Even though ESET NOD32 Antivirus v10.1.210.0 is not available in the offline downloaders, I just run the Live downloader and it actually installed ESET NOD32 Antivirus v10.1.210.0

but there is still no pause protection in the right click context menu.

I thought you said this will be fixed in the next version Marcos
