After I sent him an SMS telling him that I made an online complaint about him, he sends me an email saying that he has sent this request to the online sales team so what good is ESET doing me by telling me to contact the local office? at the end, they just contact them back it's like throwing the customer around and wasting his time! what a joke When I wanted to downgrade my Bitdefender Internet Security License to the Antivirus only, they did it within a couple of hours and didn't throw me around like a ball to no locao ffice. ESET is ESET. I refuse to work with these unprofessionals anymore

See why I didn't want to deal with the Dubai representative for ESET?? Because they make you feel that you are calling a cheap cafeteria not a professional worldwide Antivirus company! I called them today to help me downgrade my license from ESS to NOD32, the lady said there is only one person handling the sales and subscriptions. His name is FIAZ, she gave me his cell phone number and Email. I called him telling him about my request. He said he is not at the office and that I should email him. I asked, when will I get an answer? he said by the end of the day I sent the email and waited 4 hours, no reply. So I call again and asked if he received my email, he said he did and will reply once he gets to the office. Wait another 2 hours... no reply.. So I called him twice and no answer! I've never seen such unprofessionalism and ignorance from a company. ESET should really think who they hire to represent them. This guy is an absolute example of crappy customer service. Some mode please PM me and I would gladly forward you his details! I hate dealing with these local offices and want to deal only with the main ESET branch in the US but they will always forward me to these unprofessional people

If I understand it correctly, you didn't have any issues with the firewall being in learning mode and the performance issue started to occur after switching the firewall to Automatic mode. Did you try "Automatic mode with exceptions"? Unlike Automatic mode, in this mode custom rules and rules created by learning mode are applied. oh no the system was very sluggish in learning mode but I gave it some time I thought the learning mode is causing this. Everything was jerky in movement, the mouse, browsing, running a setup file of some large program like Nero Platinum 2014 or Adobe Photoshop CS 6 was a living nightmare. I gave it the benfit of the doubt though, but to my surprise, when switching back to the default Automatic mode this slowness didn't change. So I formated again and installed NOD32 I'm much happier with NOD32's performance + the default Windows Firewall

I sent a guy named Fiaz who is the Account Manager in Dubai for ESET ME an email with my request to downlgrade from ESS to NOD32 and upgrade from 3 user license to a 5 user license

I did try the learning mode bro, there was no issue in torrents anymore Then I renabled Automatic mode after a while. But I had to go back to NOD32 as my system felt sluggish compared to when I had NOD32. I certainly like NOD32 more and Ill stick to that but thanks a lot for helping me You are my new friend

Please read the firewall modes, specifically Interactive for Tweak, and Policy for Swex : Automatic mode The personal firewall will automatically evaluate all network communications, while also applying rules that you have defined. This will by default allow all standard outgoing connections, and block all non-initiated incoming connections. This mode is suitable for most users. Automatic mode with exceptions (user-defined rules) In addition to Automatic mode, it enables you to add custom rules. Interactive mode In Interactive mode, network communication is handled according to predefined rules. If there is no rule available for a connection, the user is prompted in a dialog window to allow or deny the connection. After some time, the user will have created a group of rules fitting his or her needs. Use caution when choosing this mode for a corporate environment, as after time, some users may ignore the regularly appearing dialog windows and just allow everything they are prompted for by the program. Policy-based mode In Policy-based mode, network communication is handled according to rules given by the administrator. If there is no rule available, the connection is automatically blocked and the user sees no warning message. We recommend that you select the Policy-based mode only if you are an administrator who intends to control the network communication, and you are sure you know which applications should be allowed or denied. Learning mode Allows all activity and automatically creates and saves rules based on user behavior; this mode is suitable for initial configuration of the Personal firewall. I don't need a trial bro, my license is an ESS license valid for 3 PCs / 3 years. But as you know, ESET has a great thing where if you have an ESS license, they allow you to use and activate it for a lower product, in this case, NOD32

No, no slow downs while browsing or downloading, I don't do torrents so I can't say if I would. But personally I would continue to use ESS, I use the ESS firewall in Policy-based mode so all connection attempts are blocked in/out unless there is a rule for it. thanks for the suggestion man. I have to use SAS though as I can't clear out my cookies using CCleaner, I have a gazillion sites I login to and don't want to lsoe my logins nor do I want to take the time to setup exclusions for the myriad of sites I use.

I can't seem to find the link anymore about the review I read last year But basically what it said was, the bad thing about the ESET firewall is that it allows most connections by default until you specifically block them. Another concern is, I do not want any slow downs on my internet especially while downloading torrents (I download legal torrents like Windows ISOs, Office or owned product keys I am not a Warez person) So in all honesty, do you guys feel that ESS slows your internet surfing or downloading experience? and torrents? I am torn between staying on my setup that is fast and snappy now which is NOD32 + Windows Firewall + SUPERAntiSpyware manual scans weekly to get rid of any tracking cookies or upgrade to ESS? PS: Another thing I don't like about ESS is that it installs the parental controls and Anti-Theft thingy when I never use them, wish it had a custom setup

thanks, not gonna bother then. Even though I just got a reply from Outpost cutomer care advising me that when I buy the license, to ensure that NOD32 is installed first THEN install Outpost so it would run its compatiblity wizard but now I have my doubts after what you both said.

I have an ESS license but always choose to install NOD32 only as its Firewall is not so great as per reviews I've read and it slows down uTorrent. Now my question is, is Outpost Firewall compatible with NOD32 or not? Does it have HIPS also and should one disable it? Pls advice

Perhaps we should recommend the tester to update the drivers, too Unfortunately, the methodology used in the performance test is not known to my best knowledge but the fact that probably nobody else has experienced noticeable performance impact with v7 shows that there must be something wrong or the test doesn't simulate how people use computers in real-world. I can confirm, NOD32 has 0 slowdown now. Guess the old drivers were playing in a weird way with NOD32 but whatever, now my system is the same before/after installing NOD32! thanks guys for being patient with me despite my numerous bashful threads.

Strange guys, tested my transfer speed before copying a 30 GB Macrium Reflect Image file fro mthe HDD to the External WD 3.0 USB HDd and I had 97 MB/S transfer speed Installed NOD32, updated, rebooted then tested the transfer speed, it was a stable 98 MB/S Maybe in the past when I Was doing these tests the scores were diff. since I have updated my drivers almost all of them since then I'm glad I am back to NOD32

SweX, from the posts you I see you make here, I cannot trust a single word you say. Because you blindly defend ESET. I am an ESET user since the days of V2, so I am in no way a troll, or trying to bash them. I just want someone to fix these performance issues that I have experienced and pointed out here. data copying from my HDD to my external HDD was hurt big time with NOD32 installed but with Webroot, the tranfers to my USB 3.0 WD HDD happen at super fast (Webroot 100 MB/S, ESET >> 10 MB/S) and I did post the thread here earlier and was told that NOD32 doesn't scan the file while it is copying, but the fact is, at the end of the day, my transfer speeds were lower by 90% Secondly, this is not the only performance test I have seen bad, I don't have the link handy, but in another test posted on Wilder Security forums 3 months back, it clearly shows that NOD32 does very bad in file coyping operations, and Norton AV smoked it. Thirdly, another example, I have a program called "PhotoZoom Pro". The setup files are 27 MB in size, very small..when I install it and have Webroot installed, the installation finishes in exactly 1 second and bamm. it's done! when I have NOD32 installed, it hangs for 2 seconds when you hit NEXT, then you see it installed. so there IS a slow down noone can dispute that Your argument about how the tests show bad results but noone here complaints has no value. Many people aren't too picky about performance like me, or don't know how fast was their system before/after NOD32, they just want an AV that works. I commend ESET for making such a stable product with 0 FPs as I for one had to conatct Webroot 4 times to whitelist some files but they do it in less than 30 mins which is good. Still, ESET wins here with no FPs and headacheless operation. It's just that performance bit. Give meh NOD32 v2 comaptible with Windows 8.1 and I'm a happy man And no, I would not use Bitdefender AV, McAfee, or Kaspersky based on those tests because I know while they have no negative impact on file transfer operations and the speeds are full. they do affect internet browsing/downloading heavily due to the way they due HTTP scans. I will give NOD32 one last try, I am reverting back to an image I had made before installing an AV, and will install NOD32, then will work with the mods here to see how can they help me with my slow USB 3.0 transfer speeds.

sorry, you were saying? I have an x64 Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center (clean installation not upgraded from Windows 8 like many others)

just wanted to make a point clear, because I do want to retrn to NOD32 once it becomes like it was in the past Loved v2, v3, and v4....then v5 onwards, kept getting heavier and heavier but it was acceptable until v7...it was way too much not the reason I made this thread, is I want your opinion, why did the performance test in the above link show poor performance? there must be something wrong. like seriously wrong when Kaspersky for example which is known to be one of the heaviest, and McAfee, get way better results. what is the reason? there are many others tests that I've seen but this is the latest one
