Toshiba Satellite Pro A300: ESET blocks Fn+F6 and Fn+F7 (screen brightness control)

Recommended Posts

I've just installed Linux Lite 3.0 (based on Ubuntu 16.04) on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300.

On this laptop the Fn key combinations are used to alter screen brightness, i.e. Fn+F6, decrease; Fn+F7, increase brightness.  However, when ESET for Linux is installed on the machine the 'screen brightness keys' stop functioning.

On removal of ESET from the PC, screen brightness control resumes.

What is the cause of this and how can it be rectified? Is it possible to have ESET installed on this machine without impairing control of screen brightness?

Thankyou for your help.

Regards

Mike

Never heard about such issue so perhaps the best course of action would be contacting your local customer care and create a regular support ticket. By the way, do you have ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop 4.0.82.0 installed? Does temporarily disabling real-time protection make a difference?
