Phelios 0
Starting from October 17th, every time I open Google Chrome, ESET pops up with a warning about JS/Adware.Chromex.Agent.W and deletes the file located at AppData\Local\Temp\chrome_Unpacker_BeginUnzipping4508_1358732056\ct.bundle.js (the number after "BeginUnzipping" changes each time). Following this, while Chrome remains open, the same warning occurs roughly every five to six hours. I have tried turning off sync and disabling/removing extensions, but the issue persists. I logged into other Chrome accounts on the same computer, and even though those accounts don’t have any extensions installed, the same issue still happens. What should I do to remove this warning? Administrators Marcos 5,349 Posted 3 hours ago Administrators Share Posted 3 hours ago I'd recommend backing up your bookmarks, uninstalling Chrome, deleting / renaming the user profile folders and installing Chrome from scratch without enabling sync. Phelios 0
I pay for antivirus software with the expectation that it will help me eliminate threats without disrupting my regular workflow. Instead, it keeps flagging something that may not even be a real threat, while also damaging my work environment and sacrificing convenience (such as reinstalling Chrome with sync disabled). Can you explain what kind of threat this warning is actually preventing? I’ve seen online discussions where some users mention that Microsoft Defender or Kaspersky don’t trigger this warning under the same circumstances. Is it possible that ESET’s internal definitions are at fault? There are people on forums who have reported similar issues, and one common suggestion from you has been to "disable sync and reset the environment." What exactly is the reason behind this? This isn’t a simple task—it would disrupt my work environment, so I need a solid justification for doing this.
