Suggestion: Add the Ability to Exclude Entire Internal Drives From Scans

Recommended Posts

I did my research, and it appears that ESET does not permit users to exclude entire internal drives from its scans without going through some complex procedure.  Others may and do differ, but I have all of my programs and data on my boot drive (Intel 1 TB NVMe SSD) on my 2019 vintage Dell XPS 8930 SE  Windows 11 Pro 24H2 desktop computer.

I also have two additional internal drives in that computer, a Seagate 2 TB and a WD Blue 4 TB, one of which (the Seagate) I use to copy files from the boot drive for easy access should the files on the boot drive be damaged.  The  WD Blue is used for system images and for storing my own video projects.  As such, except for the video files, which I understand that ESET does not scan, nothing on those two internal drives is different from what is on my boot drive (C:).  I do system images weekly of all partitions on my boot drive with Macrium and Easeus of the boot drive, alternating, so I am not worried about data loss.

I haven't seen a "Suggestions" Forum on this site so far, so I am posting here.  MODERATOR: Please move this post if I missed it.

My previous AV solutions (I am an ESET newbie) permitted me to exclude drives from scanning and/or real-time protection.  I think that ESET should incorporate that feature in its GUI.  ESET could, of course, post warnings when a user tried to configure a drive exclusion that it does compromise the security of the computer, but as a UNITE-certified Malware Response Removal Specialist and Instructor, I would like to be given that option in the ESET GUI to avoid wasting time scanning what I know is not infected.  I did my training at Bleeping Computer, and you can check me out there.  I use the same handle: "garioch7."

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Open Eset GUI. Select Computer scan -> Advanced scans -> Custom scan per below screen shot;

Next, select objects and drives to be scanned per below screen shot;
