jfksdt45245 0
Wondering why https://megaup.net is currently blocked Can you please tell me if it is safe to access websites flagged like "Adware.Agent" if you already use an active ublock blocking the problematic ads? Administrators Marcos 5,257 Posted January 11 Administrators Share Posted January 11 The website is not blacklisted, however, the download page contains adware JS/Adware.Agent.CZ which is detected and blocked. The detection is correct.
jfksdt45245 0
Marcos I'm not a security expert, what is the risk of the adware exactly? Can you please explain in simpler terms the implication of the adware detection in the context of using ublock in combination with ESET, does using ublock make usage of the website less risky in that condition? This is what a normal user would like to know, thanks.
jfksdt45245 0
Would using ublock + running it in sandbox be enough to negate risk of adware?
Administrators Marcos 5,257 Posted January 11 Administrators Share Posted January 11 For a definition of adware, you can check Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adware Adware, often called advertising-supported software by its developers, is software that generates revenue for its developer by automatically generating online advertisements in the user interface of the software or on a screen presented to the user during the installation process. I don't know if there's other risk when allowing this particular adware to run other than advertisements. Even if there was no other malicious functionality, ads can be misused for malwaretizing. Obviously some of them will lead you to dating sites:
jfksdt45245 0
Thanks. For the sake of answering my own question, I can report that whitelisting the site but using ublock, I see no such ads and in this situation it seems to be safe to use.
