kyo1972 1
I started getting notifications that claimed to be from McAfee, prompting me to click on something like "onegadsdesign... " to remove a virus. I have eset not McAfee. The logo for McAfee looked a bit lumpy. I searched eset and did not get any hits. I searched the internet and got some advice to 1. Rest the browser to factory settings 2. Install MalwareBytes and scan 3. Install HitmanPro to make sure the malware is gone. I did reset Chrome, run an eset scan and no longer have the problem. Is that it? Can I be sure I am fixed? Eset never reported a detection. Is this adware that only generates fishy notifications?

Administrators Solution Marcos 5,288 Posted March 23, 2023 Administrators Solution Share Posted March 23, 2023 Open chrome://settings/content/notifications in Chrome and remove the website from sites allowed to send notifications, if listed there. kyo1972 1
itman: Thanks for the url, I did find that and used its advice in part. I did not run MalwareBytes since that required an install and I assumed eset would do the same thing. Likewise, I did not install/run hitmanpro. Marcos: I do not see any websites in the notifications list. This also relieves my concern. Thanks to both.
