  1. i have also noticed similar lines in the logs. i guess, it's because some files might act like zip files.
eg. files that contain other files inside them. thus it found 2 and it cleaned 3.

so it unpacked the files and cleaned as necessary.

there is no need to worry as it doesn't leave any malware behind. perhaps a moderator or someone with better knowledge can explain it better

  2. i'm afraid i can't answer that. even if you are working to a large company those things shouldn't bother you. the I.T (Information Technology) department takes care of installations and other similar stuff.

  3. the "tests" that those labs perform are not reflected in the real world scenarios.

for example. they might bombard the computer to be tested with hundreds of viruses/malware in a matter of minutes, in order to test how good a specified AV works.

the real end user won't get hundreds or maybe thousands of viruses in such a short time. if a user is very careful to the sites he visits, he might never get infected with anything.

it's best not to pay so much attention to the sites that perform tests to prove which AV is the best. and yes, the mechanism you mentioned, will detect anything it can detect and it will count as detected malware. :)

  4. the home versions of Eset products don't need to be deactivated in order to perform a hdd format and reinstall the OS of the pc.

once you do the format and reinstall the OS, install again the desired product (smart Security or Nod32) and type your license.

the program will automatically activate again.

  5. as Marcos said, this setting once enabled it logs enormous data of network traffic for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes only.

it's only meant to be enabled when the Support personnel tells you to.

to disable it, open the main program and press F5,(or go to  Setup  and then to Advanced Setup in the down right corner) then go to Tools > Diagnostics and disable the options shown in the image.

as for the Modules folder, it's normal to be a little bit bigger in size. it contains all the necessary files for the AV to work correctly.

  6. hello, and welcome to the forum.

my advise is not to download files of unknown origin or purpose. even if you download something that looks suspicious, don't double-click/run it. it might be a simple and harmless app or a malicious application that can record and send to the developer/hacker everything you type, and as a result it will steal all your passwords to the websites you visit. (email, bank, facebook, etc.)

i'm sure now that you reported it, Eset will take care of it.

next time follow these articles to try and remove the virus/malicious app from your pc, or report it to the Eset Team.

also don't forger to make regular backups to an external hard drive to minimize the possibility of losing important data.
