Hello I accepted the updated install of 10.1.219.0 and since then, the context menu in Outlook 2010 has been missing. Under Outlook > Options > Add-ins, the add-in eplgoutlook.dll is listed under "Disabled Application Add-ins". Please now see attached pictures.

Right then. With all the online scams, I am concerned that these emails might not be legitimate and I thought I'd come to the right place to get advice considering that it's part of ESET's product. Can someone at least let me know whether I should ignore the damn things! Thanks, FWIW

hello eset heads last version, whenever my computer ran a scan, there was a page and i could see what was being scanned and when! now there isn't any page and so i have no idea what's being scanned or when! i am very confused because it was not necessary to change that facility! please can you fix it? tia

ahhh itman, i've been using grc.com for years and only just the other day did i do a stealth report and found 4 'closed' with the rest stealth. what a pretty green stealth is. you get kudos for bringing it up looking at grc.com again, i've realised while performing some tests that the 4.79.142.206 alert [as above] is grc's ping! anyhoo, does anyone know how to stealth those 4 ports? they are 25 [smpt], 80 [http], 137 [netbios-ns] and 138 [netbios-dgm] i'm still on grc.com to see whether there's any suggestions or recommendations of how to stealth those 4 ports but if some already knows, please, let me know. ta much

hi ken and thanks. my windows firewall settings are managed by eset but i'm not behind a router so i appreciate that eset is doing its job. i plugged in to my firefox the 80... source and it came up with a page informing 'proxy scanning in progress' under the banner of NSA (Network Security Alliance). that's some freaky site for sure and i reckon anyone taking a look at that page and if it is dangerous, i'd conclude that many might fall for it! when i plugged in to firefox the other two source numbers their respective pages failed to load and so i am still none the wiser as to what they are or to what they relate. i do recall a number of years of years ago tho and possibly between v.4 and v.5, that i would often receive alerts of some kind and that i needed to tick some box or other in advanced settings, under ssl or hips maybe?!?! i don't recall but i was satisfied that eset was doing its job and so ticking that box merely stopped the alerts popping up all the time. if you or anyone else can help me out with that, i'd be grateful. i don't like this option of 'keep blocking' / 'stop blocking' because i have no freakin clue as to what it all means nor to what these damned numbers refer.

i've just received another alert. this is a new source though: i've been getting alerts all night regarding source 69..., i've been working on word and pdf documents. my email account isn't open but i do have a tab or two open in firefox. can anyone tell me something about what this all means. tia

hello, i'm experiencing similar things and i wonder if this too is what i need to do to figure out why it's happening. here are two of the alerts i've received, the 2nd of which i've received more often today while i've been online: ; ; the top pic is from several days ago and because it indicates that it's listed as source, i clicked 'stop blocking'. that statement in the dialog may be quite ambiguous because it is listed as a source and so to me indicating no threat. the 2nd pic is the first part of the alert i started receiving today, clicking 'more options and information' brings up the 3rd pic. i searched this forum, i searched the knowledgebase and i even searched the web to inform myself as to how i determine the source numbers of my connected devices, but i'm absolutely mystified because not even ESET in their knowledgebase articles describes any of this behaviour, potential or otherwise. nothing is so clean cut and for a novice geek like myself that uses her computer to do all manner of things just wants to know she's safe doing all manner of things and to not have to worry about or concern herself unnecessarily with these alerts that keep popping up that provide ambiguous or information that gets the user nowhere and then for ESET to not even have an article based on or around an explanation for such things is very troubling for me. anyhoo, please let me know marcos or rugk or anyone, whether this is the same or even a similar thing and that i too should be doing what the OP is doing to determine what it is that's going on. ta much

hello again rugk. yes, the downloader is a stand alone and yes, i am now saying that it's not an ESS issue but a browser [chrome and firefox] issue because it works properly in IE. thanks for sticking around too

hello tom thanks for the g'day! as for my current issue, I'm putting it down to a [firefox and chrome] browser thing because it fails to work on either of those but it works as it should on ie11.

oh thank you rugk for answering. i will do my best to provide satisfactory answers. first, real downloader simply just stopped working for me and i do not know why. the 'set up parental controls' came up in the middle of the same time [during the same week] that i lost the download function and NO, i don't need parental controls and YES, i set them up only because ESS informed me about them and NO I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my current problerm; i doubt it but i couldn't discount it because of the coincidence. i had the same downloading issue prior to setting up the parental control but it may still be part of the problem - i don't know. firewall: do you speak of disabling ESS or Windows firewall? please be explicit and exact with instructions; i am really not that savvy thank you very much for your assistance, B

Hello, long time since i've been around; i've had some computer trouble that's fo shizle but i'm back on track i hope and looking for some help. Up until about a week ago, all was working well with the ReaPlayer Downloader but something now has messed with it and I cannot figure it out. I've followed Real's uninstall and reinstall guides, checked all the add-ons and other protocols and i still get the message 'unable to download'. Somewhere in the middle of this past week or so, the gui informed me that my parental controls hadn't been set [despite me being up and running on this computer some weeks prior and having reinstalled ESS from that time]. So I go ahead and set my parental controls but only to the default levels [ie, i've not altered anything in that regard or in any other way for that matter]. So tonight I looked for anything in ESS that may be impacting RealPlayer and the only 2 things I consider may be an issue are under 'web and email': - web access protection; and - protocol filtering. Speaking of the latter, I do recall SSL certificates being an issue at one time. Can someone please shed some light and help lead me to a successful outcome with this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, B

(and Happy Thanksgiving by the way... ) oh hello tom my good friend and happy thanks giving to you too! at this time i am working off my old XP that i went to great pains to clean instal prior to microsoft closing it off on their books --- i installed Bitdefender and mozilla when my Win7 [see my sig] crashed and i'd sent her off for repair under warranty and the best they could do was to restore to factory default so i'm left to do all the head work and hopefully, when i've been able to restore my computer using my discs and backup, i will then be able to upgrade her to v8! i have retained i hope help desk rights from the place of purchase who did all the installation work so when i'm ready for it, i'll be making the call. i hope this reply finds you well oh how i do detest spelling errors...

I've been hanging out to upgrade to v8 for several weeks now but with issues being reported, I've decided to hold off 'til it becomes available via the gui --- I reckon by that stage all will have been sorted and nervous nellies like me can upgrade without fear and eset will continue smelling like a rose honestly, I'm a huge fan of eset and I recognise that new builds will have issues; I just don't have the intestinal fortitude to deal with them...

and quoting still doesn't work unless of course you 'toggle off'

me again the mod on another forum [on which I was having ctrl+arrow issues] suggested that I add that forum's website to ie11's compatibility view settings. so, I did that and guess what? ctrl+arrow functionality restored [on that forum at least] so I added eset.com to ie11's compatibility view settings to see whether that corrected the functionality issues on this forum and guess what? ctrl+arrow functionality restored! fantastic! I still can't add a link tho! and for copy and paste functionality, it's back to toggling the switch because ctrl+X/V fail and in the absence of those, I can't tell whether C works but one thing's for certain, the icon options on the toolbar certainly fail but ctrl+Z/Y both work. so, for ie11 users to restore at least ctrl+arrow function, click the tools cog at the top right corner of your browser, select 'compatibility view settings' and on the dialog that opens, eset.com should automatically display in the 'add this website' field [if not, type it in], click 'add' and once you click close, the page will automatically refresh [give it a few seconds]. *** it seems however that the ctrl+arrow function fails after all that toggling! anyhoo... interesting fact: ctrl+UP/DOWN now only operates properly from where I've marked *** ok, so for these purposes, I 'toggled off' and then 'toggled on' to see whether that is the cause. >>> yes! toggling causes the ctrl+UP/DOWN function to fail and now only operates properly from where I've marked >>> curious

Reiterating this because I came across the same issue several weeks ago: If you're experiencing issues posting on this forum and you're using ie11 and want to continue using ie11 [as opposed to firefox or chrome] and with much thanks to TomFace for this workaround, toggling the switch in the top left corner of the forum's reply toolbar [disabling all other reply toolbar functionality], enables the poster using ie11 to at least quote and multiquote when posting. word wrap in this mode will take you WAY BACK to the days of DOS! with thanks to siljaline, i used BBCode to add emphasis to this post: ctrl+UP/DOWN however is a MAJOR PITA and I'm off to check out whether THAT is an issue using chrome --- bbs
