Hello everyone,
I realize that this thread has been inactive, however I wanted to let you all know that we have published a new article that covers the procedure to remove third-party software using ESET Remote administrator. I hope that it can be of use for those who visit this thread in the future.

Hi Kob,
As rugk stated, version 8 is available. I'm not sure whether you want the latest version of V7 or the latest version of the product. If you want to get the very latest version, please follow these instructions. If you are looking for a later build of version 7, the pages that rugk referenced should be helpful.

It should absolutely work with Windows 7, just please do make sure that you've got all available system updates.

Hi Forkys,
I'm sorry to hear that you experience with ESET Smart Security 8 has not lived up to expectations. We do have a Knowledgebase article that addresses the update issue with ESET Smart Security 7 to ESET Smart Security 8. The issue is typically resolved by removing your existing installation and installing a fresh copy of version 8. It is important that if you are using a Windows XP machine, you should make sure that you have all available updates, specifically the Service Pack 3 (SP3) update. If you have not already resolved your issue, i hope you will give this method a try and let us know if it works.

Hi LocknetSSmith,
For definitions of the different scan types, see our Knowledgebase article on advanced scanning options. I think this will clear up any confusion.

Hi Marc,
If you are in the United States, I would suggest that you contact our Customer Care department, who can assist you in looking up your credentials. I've included a hyperlink below that you can click to submit a support request:

Hi Geosoft,
Thanks for taking the time to point out where you experienced difficulty during the migration process. Regarding questions 1 & 2, I will investigate this issue with Windows Firewall and Agent deployment. We are in the process of putting together better documentation of the deployment process that will address the process of Proxy Server installation.
Regarding question 3, the reason that packages are not differentiated by bit-architecture is that the ESET Live Installer (used in the available installation packages) is able to detect the bit architecture on a given client and download the right version of your ESET product for that machine, so it is not necessary to select a bit-architecture for the installation package.
Regarding question 4, my suggestion is that you distribute the ERA Agent live installer file to clients, as depicted in our Knowledgebase article. This will allow your users to install the agent immediately when they return to the office.

Hi Verus,
Can you please try using the wake up call feature that I wrote you about in your other post? It should expedite any tasks you're waiting on. If you are not successful, I suggest you verify that your system has satisfied all of the requirements from our Push Installation Checklist.

What is the difference between the "apache http proxy" and "Proxy-6.1.265.0_x64.msi"
Hi Verus,
We are currently in the process of developing more comprehensive documentation for the HTTP Proxy and Proxy Server components, and plan to have it available for global launch in February. Thank you for your patience while we make this documentation ready.
With regards to your question about the two different proxy types, "proxy_X64.msi" refers to the ERA Proxy Server, which is used to distribute load to the ERA Server. "apache http proxy" is a separate component, which can be used to serve a similar role to a mirror server in ERA 6.

Hi Dougcouch,
For your future reference, you can take a look at this Knowledgebase article for instructions to check for a new version from within the product. -
Hi again,
So I did confirm with our subject matter experts that at this time there is no way to further accelerate the Time Machine process with RTFS engaged and the scanning exclusion in place. It might be worth taking 5 minutes to go back through the article just to double-check that you have the right files excluded, but I can tell you're a savvy user from your records on the forums so I suspect you did it correctly the first time.

Hi Planet,
My apologies for not getting back to you. I am going to reach out to a colleague with more detailed knowledge of Cyber Security Advanced settings and see if they can better assist you here. -
Hi Marcelo,
Thanks for your patience. If you can run the DMG and it works fine, please feel free to use it to uninstall/reinstall.
The alternate methods are to open the program package and run the uninstaller (effectively the same thing but without the now-functional DMG you have) or to kill the program in activity manager, each method is described in detail at the links we included earlier. -
Thank you planet for pointing that out. Another method that you can try, Marcelo, is performing a manual uninstall via activity manager. I have included a link to our Knowledgebase article with instructions below:
How do I manually uninstall ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro?

I'm not familiar with the dialog shown in your screenshot. If you are using a work machine, you might need to speak with your Admin about getting past that dialog.

I'm sorry but at this time I cannot say what the date will be. I suggest that you follow the first thread on this topic, once more information is available we will share it there; we encourage forum users who have the same question to follow the original thread so that everyone is well informed. The Knowledgebase article from planet's post will also be updated when new info becomes available.

Hi Marcelo,
If you need help uninstalling, i recommend that you follow the steps from our Knowledgebase article. Sorry for the inconvenience, ESET is working towards the release of a Yosemite-compatible program.

Hi fidelius,
French Canadian is a language option that is offered for North American versions of the program and it uses the French language more commonly used by French Canadians, who often prefer to coin a new term in the French language as opposed to adopting a term that is not derived from French. For example, in France we see adoption of the term "email", but French Canadians prefer the term "courriel". I am by no means an expert and there are other more nuanced differences in the languages, but hopefully this answers your question.

Marcos' suggestion is the same as what is recommended in the article, he said
I'd suggest temporarily uninstalling security software as there are several modules that might cause issues, such as real-time protection, HIPS, etc.
The article recommends the same, uninstall until the upgrade is complete and then reinstall eset.

Hi Scottls59901,
You might like to take a look at our Knowledgebase article about upgrading from an earlier OS to Windows 8.X. I would suggest that you follow these instructions when you make the upgrade from 8 to 8.1 as well.

I'm not sure that I understand you. I believe you're saying that you needed to use a different parameter, but I'm unclear about this section
what I mean silent mode is respect the name of xml file. the wording in the UI should be something like "only show notifications that need action from users" under Alerts and Notifications.
as I said, the whole options can not be set under "Alerts and Notifications".

Hi tbsky,
When pushing an installation to clients, the parameter you want to use is /quiet REBOOT="ReallySuppress"
For example: C:\Users\UserName\Desktop\ESET32.exe /quiet REBOOT="ReallySuppress"
You can add this parameter to your installation package when you push it to clients. See our Knowledgebase article for a more detailed explanation. -
The client needs to log in again to receive the change, you may need to restart the client computer.

You're correct Jim. The logout time for the administrator account is fixed, here is a link to our knowledgebase article about how to create a new user, for anyone who'd like some help.
