ESET Autoupdates go on infinitely until I reboot system

Recommended Posts

As we all know ESET has frequent incremental updates, which is great.  What is not so great, is that with my system the auto-update, once started, literally does not stop unless I shut down the program or reboot my system.  'Cancel update' has no effect.  The updater just spins infinitely and takes up system resources.  I've let it run for hours and even days in the past to test whether it was a critical update requiring time to download and and install, but this appears not to be the case.  What am I missing here?

Any thoughts on config options appreciated.

I'd recommend:
1, Uninstalling ESET
2, Installing the latest v16.1 downloadable from https://forum.eset.com/files/category/3-early-access/
3, Should the problem persist:

  1. Enable advanced logging under Help and support -> Technical support
  2. Run update and reproduce the issue
  3. Stop logging
  4. Collect logs with ESET Log Collector and upload the generated archive here.
