  1. Hi SweX and all of ESET Forum..

My desktop is XP  I will have to soon retire this senior computer of 13 years, and to comment on Windows8.1.  I got a ASUS laptop as a gift and it has 8.1 and I like the computer, but I am not happy with 8.1,  but it must have some redeeming qualities.  (looking for those qualities)

If I get another laptop, It will be getting Windows 7.   Just wanted to put my 2 cents into the conversation.  KOR-

  2. Marcos knows of the 'freeze' I get when I try to open the 'Advanced Setup' window.  I believe SweX has a similar problem.  Some type of work has been going on to figure out why this is happening.

    Hello,

A release date for Version 7 has not yet been announced.

What sort of problems are you having getting into the Advanced Setup view?

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

  3. Checking to see if anyone knows when the new build will be coming out for V7.  I believe there are to be some remedies for my difficulties with getting into the advanced setup, which now only freezes for me.  Thank you.  KOR-

  4. It is the 'application update' that is looping continually for me.  My virus sig. update is at 8704 but is grayed out.   KOR-

Please confirm or deny my assumption that automatic updates are downloaded fine as long as an automatic update task is scheduled and the only issue is that Application update gets stuck.  My virus sig. update is at 8704 but is grayed out.   KOR-

    I can also confirm.

  5. Hey SweX.  Yes and what a challenge after a couple days of work on my end and probably you too have been scratching your head wondering what to do, we now find out a possible answer.  I am going to hang on with v7 until the new module is updated.  Let us see.  KOR-

The issue should only occur on systems with old processors not supporting SSE2. It was fixed yesterday in Internet protection module 1076 for v5 and v6 users. V7 users will receive an updated module 1078B soon.

  6. Okay, I had a real problem with V6 after long using it.  I did a deep uninstall today and got V7  going.

A problem with hips not loading, but I got it running with 'repair'.

My big issue is that I can't get into Advanced Setup without a freeze and then I am stuck with having to go to ctrl/alt/delete to get going again without the screen dead and nothing moves.

I click 'advanced setup' and nothing happens but the freeze up.

I am running XP, up to date.

Any remedy?  I am very loyal to ESET for like 10 years and I am now having to really work at that loyalty.

What to do, any ideas?  I can't get to the new modules update if that would be an answer.       KOR-

  7. Thank you for your response......I did many, many reboots. Nothing has helped and so I did a complete uninstall, deep uninstall. Went for V7 beta. New problems and will place them in the beta forum. KOR-

    Hello,

You are running Microsoft Windows XP, correct? If so, a reboot may be required for the changes to appear in ESET Smart Security's user interface (that's a guess on my part, but it should allow the GUI to re-initialize, which should then report the correct status of the ESET Personal Firewall module).

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Well here I am again.  I got rid of the other security program and did an install of v6.  I still get the notice that the firewall is not being recognized.  It did recognize it for a few minutes and then a windows update icon appeared but no updates as I had them installed yesterday.  (every time I get this firewall disappearance that windows update shield has been showing)

I have a very old computer and run XP fully undated.

The control panel states that ESET firewall is running but when I open ESET to check on the systems running it only has the anti-virus showing and the icon is RED stating that the firewall is off and that I do not have full protection.

I see I have internet protection module 1076.  KOR-

We've found out that the recent Internet protection module 1073 might have caused ekrn crashes on systems powered by CPUs from 2001 and older (2004 and older for AMD CPUs). Updating to the latest version of Internet protection module 1076 should solve the issue.
