  1. Thanks, but no success. Since it did not work without ESET installed, I'm thinking it must be an issue outside of ESET.
  2. I tried the various temporary fixes on three different computers....two worked and one did not and it is on the same network as one of the computers where the fix worked. So, to take ESET out of the picture, I uninstalled ESET on the one where it did not work and I am still unable to use Chromecast, so there is something wrong outside of ESET on one of my PCs. I'm not looking for answers to that issue here, however...just wanted to throw it out there.
  3. RIght on. I'm an IT professional who is very persisent at trying to find solutions to issues I experience, and it took me a lot of time and research before I found this thread. I was just about ready to consider my Chromecast devices obsolete but as a somewhat last ditch effort, I Googled "eset chromecast" and then came across this thread. On a a slightly off topic issue, while troublshooting, I tried "pausing" the ESET firewall and I was still not able to see my Chromecast device. I thought doing that would completely bypass ESET?
  4. I am also having this issue. Can someone please summarize what needs to done to get Chromecast to work again? Thanks!
  5. Is there a way to add a semi-generic rule in ESS 10 which will allow various versions of the same general application to run? For example, DropBox updates their software a lot and I am always having to allow all their various update installation programs to run. The same goes with many Microsoft Windows 10 applications. Or is there some other way to allow this besides rules? Thank you.
  6. I just installed SS 9.0.349.0 and it seems to have fixed the CCleaner issue. I also tested to be sure that SS9 was still protecting by trying to download the EICAR test file and it blocked it, so I presume all is well. Thank you!
  7. I restored the previous version of the driver instead of reverting back to v8. Am I fully protected once again? Interstingly enough, the CCleaner slowness issue is no longer present, which makes me wonder. Update: I tried to download the EICAR file and ESS detected that it was a virus and closed the connection, so I presume I am protected. I also ran CCleaner again and it was slow, so now I feel good about being protected.
  8. Thanks Marcos. I suppose I did over react, but it seems like more and more software companies are releasing their products too early leaving the consumer to suffer. I have always had good experiences with ESS so I won't bail now because of this, I can assure you. Can I just go back the original version of the driver or is it best to go back to v8? I can live with pausing ESS protection when I want to run CCleaner.
  9. Wow....it may be time to find something else to replace ESS. This is a major FAIL!
  10. Thank you...this seems to have fixed the issue. Will this new driver be included in the next update?
  11. I am a new User and I submitted a new post to the Smart Security forum a couple days ago. When will it be approved? Thanks.
  12. I upgraded to SS9 a week or so ago and ever since I have found that the "analyze" function in CCleaner to be very slow. Today, just on a hunch, I paused Smart Security protection (not the firewall) and then found CCleaner to be as responsive at it once was. Even if the folders that CCleaner analyzes are completely empty, it is slow as long as SS protection is enabled.
