Can I somehow create a Client Task to run that on remote computers from the ESMC server?
-
ESMC7 with EES/EFS7 on Windows.
Is there any way to create a PUA scan without clean enabled, ie detect only, without changing settings for every other scan type?
Currently the only place to enable/disable PUA in policy is in the Detection Engine / Basic settings. This then applies for all scan types.
I want to be able to disable PUA detection without compromising all the scan settings for all other threat types, ie viruses. And then run a detection only scan for PUA's to check for false positives before setting PUA to be 'cleaned'. I can't see any way to do this, even by creating a Client Task, as everything refers back to whether PUA is enabled or disabled in Basic settings.
So the only option I can see is enable PUA detection and enable 'No Cleaning' for all threat types, or disable PUA's altogether permanently.
Why do I want to be able to scan PUA's separately?
Because sometimes business or wanted applications are detected as PUA's and deleted. I want to be able to detect these first, then exclude any that the customer doesn't want removed.

Hi Martin, I would like to be able to completely remove it. Maybe add the ability to add a custom footer in it's place.
-
Also is there any way to remove the ESMC server name from the bottom of the pdf reports?
-
Hi Peter, thanks for your reply.
So for example I've created custom 'Report Templates' for each customer. I then create a scheduled report to email these reports to the customer.
The reports are attached to the single email as multiple pdf's. I can't see any way to change the orientation of the individual reports. If I change the orientation in the scheduled report, this will change the orientation for all attached pdf reports, where some are preferred to be in Portrait orientation.
TBH it is very clunky having to create multiple report templates which generate separate pdf's. It would be much better if I could generate all reports as a single pdf, or better still embed the reports in a single html email. I could then start the report with some pretty graphs followed by the tables with the important stuff.

ESMC 7.
Is it possible to change the pdf reports to landscape. Could we have this added as an option please.
Also maybe auto sizing of the columns rather than all equal sized. And vertical centering in the rows.
Reports with long text in one or more columns currently look a bit 'scattered'.
Thanks.

PPTP? You really shouldn't be using PPTP anymore for VPN. It's probably considered on a similar level to using WEP for wireless.

Galaxy that is what backups and the built in Previous Version feature is for.
There is another antivirus product that claims they can do this, but their own engineers on their own website admit it doesn't work lol.
-
I'd backup files, document apps, format and install W10 clean.
Might initially seem like this is the more time consuming way to do it, but it only takes one glitch to blow out an upgrade, and it's never going to be as clean as a fresh install.

No worries, I'll message the IP address.
Cheers.

Just tested again on my server. Seems to be working now
-
Yeah, nah, I'm not going to download software from an unknown proxy source
-
No I don't have proxy installed.
-
What IP address of what server?
I'm trying to create a Live Installer, the repository is set to AUTOSELECT. It continually fails.
Also seems I can't deploy agents from ERA atm. Can't deploy Client Task / Software Installs.
So much is not working.
Just please fix it!
-
have you tested it from a server based in AU?
My suggestion was to run up a server on AWS in the Sydney data centre for testing. Much quicker and cheaper than spinning up a server on Azure.
-
Right, so it doesn't seem to be working...
-
Peter, are you saying that this 'solution' will only work if you're running the ERA/ESMC server on Azure?
-
Is it live yet?
Big improvement, I actually got to 6% this time lol.Sorry for being sarcastic, but really this is beyond ridiculous.
Why don't you guys spin up a couple of servers on Amazon in the Sydney data centre and test this problem live until it's resolved!

It seems to be a coding issue in ERA itself.
For example my ERA 6.5.522 server, I can't deploy software from the repository, I have to use the download.eset.com links, which then works fine.
ESMC 7, seems to deploy software from the repository no problem.
But All-In-One installers download fails on both.
-
So, any news on when this repository issue is going to be fixed?
No response from anyone at ESET since last week. Everyone must be on holidays ?
-
Seems to be an as yet still unresolved issue with Au based servers connecting to the repository.
If you enter the following URL in the client task this seems to work more reliably. These are just the links from the public website downloads pages if you need a different product.
EES 6.6.2089.1 64bit
https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/business/ees/windows/latest/ees_nt64_enu.msi
EES 7.0.2073.1 64bit

How can I remove the ESMC (v7) server name from the bottom of generated reports?
Thanks.
-
Just tried to deploy EES update from my ERA 6.5.522 server, failing on both EES 7 and the latest EES 6.
Software installation failed: GetFile: Error reading HTTP response data (0x4e2a).
This is getting ridiculous. I have several customers I need to deploy updates to. Going around to every one of their computers and manually installing the software is not a viable workaround.
When can we expect this will be fixed please?

Can we please have the same email account settings in client policies as are available in Server Settings in ERA/ESMC.
Currently we can't use Office 365, Hotmail (etc), gmail accounts for notifications from endpoints. I've tried with yahoo which only works some of the time. I'm sure there are other online smtp relay servers and accounts that may work, but the most common for most small businesses would be Office 365 and to a lesser extent Google.
I know I can create notifications in ERA/ESMC, but of course these are delayed based on the how long the agent connect interval is set to.
Separate PUA settings / scan
in ESET PROTECT On-prem (Remote Management)

Marcos I totally agree, but when you've just signed up a new customer and the first thing eset does is deletes the CEOs beloved Google Toolbar, 1: its not a good start to the relationship, and 2: it creates additional unnecessary work for me that the customers probably not going to want to pay me for.
a lot of what PUA detects is mostly crapware. I'd rather scan for this first so I can create a list to discuss and then exclude before enabling for strict cleaning.
