  1. Please create a new topic for particular issues you may run into as this topic is meant for general feedback on v9. One of the new things in v9 is that SSL scanning is enabled by default. Does disabling real-time or web protection from the main gui or protocol filtering in the advanced setup make a difference? Hey Marcos, thanks for your feedback. SSL scanning was not enabled - I already checked that. I will try and disable some features to see what is causing it. When I know this I will make a new topic.
  2. Yes, This v9 is a big step in the wrong direction. What a shame. It is more sluggish, is not made for experienced users - quite the opposite! - and is not as configurable as v8. I purchased my 3 year license 1 month ago. I will ask for my money back. What a shame to see my favourite product go down this route
  3. it could be just the web browser cluttered with the web history, have you tried to clear history, cookies etc etc? I have not tried this but I do this very regularly anyway with ccleaner. And I have set in browser that temp files do not go above 100MB. And with v8 just a few days ago I never had this problem. Every day with v9 I experience some kind of lag, very frustrating. I will try your suggestion though.
  4. Thanks, was disabled here. Probably because I have upgraded from v8 and not installed it fresh. Again today I noticed some slow down in browsing. When wanting to copy/pase my username on a website there was a huge lag. Took about 7 seconds before I could see what I pasted. Any idea why this is happening? Never happened on v8...
  5. It is not clear what security risk you mean, please clarify. At any rate, SSL scanning can be disabled without affecting protocol filtering or http scanning itself. Protection warnings that can be disabled in the Application statuses setup are only meant for temporarily disabled protection. We'll change the wording to make it clear. Disabling any protection features that affect protection capabilities and thus expose users at risk will always be indicated by turning the protection status red. Marcos, I understand your point. But I have to agree with freebooter here. Having the ability to use the features I want was a major reason for buying ESET. And this was all possible with version 8. I do not want to constantly see that I am not protected in the maximum way. This is my decision. No need to remind me all the time with an annoying message and a red cross. This makes me feel I am using a product made for noobs. No offence.
  6. Where is SSL protocol filtering automatically enabled? In the web scanning preferences?
  7. Hi SCR, thanks for thinking along with me. I noticed the update of PM and installed it. Lets see how it goes in the next days.
  8. Overall I feel that ESET 9 is a little slower. I have the problem that when browsing the web it sometimes gets laggy and on other times my browser (Pale Moon) automatically minimizes for a couple seconds and I have to wait for the sandbox to disappear and it gets maximized again. Just had it happen here on the forum typing this reaction. Never had this with the previous version. I upgraded yesterday. Windows 7 Enteprise x64 Latest ESET version Latest Pale Moon version Also a program called Secunia PSI 3.0 takes a lot longer to startup and a lot longer to search for outdated software.
  9. to double check if I installed the x64 edition : if the eset process in task manager is running in 64bit - that means I installed the 64bit version correctly?
  10. I missed that But since yesterday I installed it, will keep an eye on this and keep you posted!
  11. I use Fossamail and having ESET scan my email is making it slower. That is why I disable the email scanning. But ok, seems I have to live with the red cross all the time
  12. Yeah, I got it disabled in the settings. But still it is nagging about it. I noticed there is also a new thread about it with another user who has the same problem.
  13. That is not the point. Not all users are stupid. If a user knows how to disable this in the settings it is probably because he knows what he is doing. Maybe the user uses another way of web protection? If you offer the option to disable it (that is why I love ESET), it should work. No offence of course! Anyway : I notice exactly the same problem. This seems to be a bug.
  14. No problem here. Just did the windows update. Maybe you were just unlucky and the windows update service had a temporary problem? Other question : how to disable the "security alerts". I know I have my mail protection disabled so I want to turn off the alert.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion Marcos. I prefer not to install a beta version though. Any other suggestions please?
  16. Sorry to bump such an old thread but I have exactly the same problem as the topic starter described. ESET Smart security 8.0.319.0 Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Suggestions please? I recently purchased this software, but this is pretty annoying. Thanks!!
