  1. Hi

Just a quick feedback on something that I have noticed. There have been many users that have been confused by the words, " Clean Files" and "Scan Files" from the right click context menu. Now it is Changed to " Clean with Eset Smart Security" and "Scan without cleaning" .Sometimes it is the small things that can do a big difference. A universal Kudus to Eset.

    Cheers, Janus

  2. Hello pazzo 1940..(Some loose thoughts about quarantined files.)

When a file is quarantined then it is rendered harmless, as you know. The file will not be removed completely from your system. That is just meant as a precaution in thoose rare cases of a false positive detection, when a user need to restore a file. Sometimes it is the other way around, that it is you that can quarantined a suspicious file, while it is analysed by Eset. Personally I always wait ,at least a month ,before deleting a file from quarantine, and not without a backup of my system, before I delete any file . And there you have your answer, if you delete the file from quarantine it will permanently be removed from the hard drive. (And can longer be restored if you wish so).

  3. Hello xxJackxx, nice to see you here =))

Yes you can use your existing/regular license, username/password if you will, no problem at all,but i can see why? Regarding your first question, then I always test Beta software in a real software environment, meaning no VMware used. There was a small hiccup regarding Windows 8, but it was corrected fast. In Windows 7 (and 8), I have only seen a small problem with Roboform, beside that, beta 7 seems very stable.I went to a Honey pot, to see how stable it were regarding struggling with some malware , website blocking and so on, and it were steady as a rock.

  4. Hello Eset

Issue: Roboform can't connect/synchronize to Roboform Everywhere cloud, when "Always Scan ssl protocol" is enabled. When disabling "Always scan ssl" and then set back to Do not scan ssl protocol, then will Roboform synchronize Again

(Excluding Roboform from protocol filtering helps, but should not be a long time solution. With Ess 6x no issue)

Data : Windows 8 64 bit full patch. IE10 version 27.01453.110m. Eset Smart Secyrity Beta 7.0.28.0.

    Roboform Everywhere version: 7.8.9.5. SHA1: 668998849768c68f5a2464c6b54bd9f8b1a30d28 MD5: 6291b03c4e6b0109c2034971c7efce05 (Source to md5/sha1, Virus total.)

  5. Hey!

Not a big issue, just a wish, see attached image. (bye the way, it seems that Eset ,in higher degree than before, catch threats very early, especially PUA's before  they   actually is downloaded. Improved web blocking? At least it seems so )..So far has beta 7 worked well, regarding cleaning, blocking/deleting.. no hiccups. (platforms Windows 7 and 8 64 bit)

  6. Hello,

My first impression, or first thought when I installed Eset Smart Security new beta version , was that it was a enhanced update version 6. In other words,it seems that Eset has kept that, that has proven to work well , their user interface, and enhanced the detection under the hood. And that is fine with me. Looking forward to try the new tool " Specialized Cleaner" that I think, should be under the the category "Tools", and not under " Help and support" as it is now. (unless there is an ulterior motive). Regarding the new Icon, then I can't decide if I like it or not. Nevertheless, it will never have an impact, regarding me choosing Eset as my chosen Av or not. But that said, then one has to have in mind, that changing an icon that have and still are one of Eset's best brand, will always be a marketing risk. It takes money and time to incorporate an icon. And one have to outweigh the benefits. When I say eset, I guess many will say, the eye and the robot. So what to choose........new or old icon?

  7. Hi

No problem with version 6.0.316.0 of Eset Smart Security. Can open all other boxes, except Windows mail. Have been using an hour to try to narrow it down a bit. Tried to deactivated almost all features, methodological, one at a time, as you said. The only boxes in Ess that I have skipped is, Parentel control-update-tools and user interface.(I didn't find them relevant for the problem). Furthermore, what I find a bit strange is that I can see emails received, but can't open the mail, unless I uninstall Eset Smart security. (if I go to  outlook.com through my browser, where I have my private mail accont, then I have access to my mail). IT should be straightforward to check if this is reproducible for others.

An update: It seems that I am not alone, after all: hxxp://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2239513&postcount=3

  9. Hey Eset, Your released cycle/marketing strategy seem to me, to be more aggressive, not that I complain, just a observation. Regarding beta testing, could it then be an idea to create a post that explain how to give feedback (an example) regarding beta issues, on this forum. An example could be, first to state the main observation/problem, a description. Then the details, like browser used (version), OS, hardware, software environment etc. Some thoughts about how to beta test, will give new beta testers a better idea ,about how they should systematically work with a beta.

  10. Hey Boris

Have you tried to clear the update cache, it's quite easy, see here: Error downloading file and cannot update virus signature database in ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus (6.x) .

I can see from the above post, that you have done a clean installation by using eset uninstaller tool in safe mode, and it has apparently not help much. If the "clean update cache" trick do not help, then you can follow the last advice( point 8 ) in the article from above. And take advantage of your local Customer Support, most offer phone support.(Sorry I cannot guide you to your local support because I can't see in what part of the world you are from?)

    Regards, Janus =))

  11. Hey reevesloh

Try to throw in some more information like: what OS are you using? 64 or 32 bit. What version of Eset Smart Security 5x du you have? Have you installed new software recently? What have you tried? Do you have other real time protection running? Have you tried to restore to a point before your issue began? I know it is a lot of question, but it might help others to see a solution.

    Regards, Janus
