  1. Hello Emil Vals

Have you tried to take contact to them, I mean esetscandinavia.com ? Tell them what you have on your mind regarding your wish for a 2 year + 5 user license. Personally I have used eset.dk the Danish vendor, and have had some special wishes regarding my licenses, and they have always been very accommodating when I have contacted them. So just drop "esetscandinavia.com" a email or give them a call... I can't imagine other that they will help you.

  2. Hello CaJazzman

An alternative solution, to Arakasi's good advices, as always, that might work for you ......First you have to open eset's interface, and resize it, to the size that you want by dragging it in the corners. Then hold down the shift key, on my keyboard it is to the right. Then move your mouse cursor, while you are holding down the shift key, up to the upper right corner, to the red box with the x, and press on it. You will receive a message sounding like this,"Are you sure that you what to quit Eset smart security" press yes. Eset's main interface will close. Do not be afraid, you are not shutting down the protection, the "Eset service" is still running. Then go to your program menu and find eset, and press the eset symbol, and the interface will restart. This will hopefully solve your issue..I have done a short video...just to illustrate.. Just press " video " link (Video disabled....has served its purpose)

  3. Hey Evereset and wellcome to the forum...

I read your post and tried as you described. There don't seem to be any way that you can get Eset to remember the way you what to have your columns adjusted in the "Zone and rule setup' window" .You can get Eset to remember the size of your window, but as soon you close the window and reopen it, it has reset the columns again. My only suggestion is, that you suggest your constructive idea, and I really think you should, to Eset's thread, named: Future changes to ESET Smart Security , they do keep an eye on that thread.

  4. Hello Ismail and wellcome to the forum...

The article you refer to from Microsoft, is a good practice, when a major update of the Operating systems is necessary or wanted. Is this case from 8 to 8.1. They suggest to disable the Antivirus temporarily, because there is or will be a risk, that the Av can see some of the new systemfiles as a false positive and block the file. And as a result of that, you may run into installations issues. Okay, when that is said, then I have updated from windows 8 to 8.1 on a couple of machines, with eset 7 with no issues at all. One of Eset strengths is that, they have a very solid and well coded heuristics detection and a very low sum of false positives, which is supported, by the way live grid works. If you will deactivate Eset anyway under the update from 8 to 8.1, then may this article be to any use , How do I temporarily disable ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus?

  5. Hey..

Thanks for the article and input Arakasi, "thumbs up" . Is this tool based on a yearly subscription? If it is, then it is a costly solution for a normal user. For the price 55.99 $ you can get a total Backup and Recovery solution, from Paragon to 40 $, that will cover you, and in my perspective do a better work, or at least the same as the solution from Bitdefender. I have mixed feelings about these added solutions. No doubt that " service ", when things go wrong , will be or is a strong competitive factor No, I hope....and I know it will demand extra man hours, that Eset in its advertising of its products, will offer its users a possibility to a directly uplink to costumer support, if necessary. It's already a possibility that exists, but they,.... I mean Eset,... just have to advertise this possibility more clearly, and support it with man hours, of course. So a slogan would or could sound like, " Support 24/7.. with possibility with a directly connection to a professional Eset support assistant", included in your subscription" ...We live Security 24/7...for you.. But reality kicks in, unfortuannly, so it would probably mean a raise up the subscription for all, or the solution could be like Bitdefenders and Nortons, be a added supbscription.....I dont know Arakasi ,I have very mixed feeling about this..

  6. Hmmm... quite funny this, fredster didn't even ask for help with his "garbage problem" whatever that may be.

All he said was that he spent 60 dollars on ESET then saw a message not related to ESET, and then he spent some more dollars on Kaspersky.

    Okidoki  :)

@fredster FYI, every vendor have trials available for users to download and try out before buying, that way you don't need to spend money on ehmm "garbage".

Great comment, at least constructive, ...come here Swex and get a ......

  7. Hello fredster and wellcome

I can understand frustration,.... experience it everyday with my equations, lol. But anyway, it could be more interesting to know from where or whom you have bought the license from. So, if you return to this thread, my friend, then please post the link here, or better, post it to one of the moderates with some words of your situation.

    Regards Janus :-))

  8. Hey Ester

Everything will, more or less work, but you will of course not receive any new vital virus definitions updates, updates of the modules, and new version release, automatically. And if you choose to buy or renew your license, then you will have a excuse for visiting us more often here on this forum...it can be handy sometimes :-))

  9. Hello wester and wellcome

A file with a poor or unknown reputation, is not necessarily malware or other unwanted software.A file from Adobe, Java, which are well known files, and many users still use, or have installed because it is necessary, will have those file deleted automatically if Eset cloud system (live grid) worked as you described. The above scenario could very well happen if Java or Adobe changed their installer without Eset knowing it. It would leave chaos and frustrated users and a ton of false positive feedbacks. No, Eset cloud systems is collecting suspicious files out of predefined rules, to analyse the files, to minimise false positives, and to give quick respond on new malware found, to its user in live grid.

  10. Hello,

Backing up data and, more importantly--restoring it is hard, and I personally would rather partner with someone who had some expertise and experience in the area.

That said, the feature request will be passed on at the earliest opportunity to the product management folks (some of whom are on holiday right now).

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Thanks Aryeh ,and a Happy new year to you, of course.

  11. Hey Chris

Personally I use, a combination, of Bing as a start page (IE 11), but has configured the browser to use Goggles as a search engine. My own experience is, that Bing has a tendency to direct me to more questionable links, and especially with image search, (that is blocked by Eset) , than Google does. Another search engine that I like is " Start page" that is supported by Google, and gives you more privacy, if that is a concern. Oh, btw. congratulation with post 100, and of course, a happy new year to you my friend.

    Regards Janus

  12. Hey-Falter

No you can't remove eset firewall, it is a integrated part of the product. But as a holder of a valid Eset smart security license, then you can choose to shift between nod32 or Eset smart security. There is a way to disable Eset Smart security firewall, but that should be only done to troubleshoot an major issue. If you disable your firewall, ( and that should not be a solution), or running without some sort of firewall, then you will definitely expose your system to attack. So what to do? (this is just some ideas) You can download nod32, use your license from Eset smart security, insert it, and run nod32 with windows own firewall, which actually is a great firewall. Or you can try to, set Eset's  firewall in interactive mode for a while (remember to reboot after you have set it in interactive mode), so it can create the rules necessary. Then after a while, set the firewall back in automatic mode with exceptions and reboot. See if that helps, on your situation. You can also create a log of all connections blocked by the ESET Personal firewall, and send it to Eset's Customers care, with a description of your issue. As said , just some ideas.....

    Regards Janus

  13. Hello einavdi

I understand your question, as if you ask ,if there is any reason for upgrading your Eset product to the newest version. If I have understood it correctly, then is the short answer to your question, "yes". There has been a substantial development of the product to better adapt the threat scenario of today, and of malware and threats from activity on social media platforms, as Facebook and twitter. From this link you can see what Eset has improved and added to it newest release, version 7, ESET Technology. And if you ask, if you can choose between Eset's different versions 4-5-6-7, when you hold a valid license, then is the answer, yes, you can choose to download any version, anytime.

Regards Janus :-))    (Happy new year when the time comes)

  14. Hello Andrew Scott Chichura

When you have a valid license then you can always, and anytime download the newest release of nod32 or Eset smart security. You can download from this site. And furthermore, if you hold a Eset smart security license, then you will able to shift between Eset smart security and nod32, as many time you may wish. This is taken from Licensing FAQ(home user) point 6.

  15. A question: MSIL/Bladabindi is a advanced infection/trojan, which create a backdoor and have keylogging features. So, should the tool " specialised cleaners"not be able to handle a situation like this? and how does the user know what infections "specialised cleaners" covers? Is it possible in the future to implement a feature, so when you hover your cursor over the tool " specialized cleaner" then you will be able to see what it, at present time, covers. Or the information could be found in a updated Knowledge base article?

    Regards Janus :-))
