  1. I have tried to download it myself from LopeSoft website and I have no problem with downloading it and even executing it. ESET doesn't block me at all because I have disabled PUA detection and maybe because you didn't disable PUA scanning and that's why you were blocked from downloading it. I have discovered one thing about this program is once you execute it, the OCSetupHlp.dll will be executed at the very beginning of the installation without user's knowledge. Fortunately, Comodo did give me alert and I chose to block and terminate the connection. (shown in pic). However, it seems that I need to get my temp folder cleaned.

  2. Hi, I actually installed a trial version of ESET which will expire on 8th of March in my friend's laptop by using my own email address. However, since last week, I have got this notification (shown in the pic below) from ESET ads reminding me that my trial will expire soon on Facebook. At first, I thought it would go off soon after the end of February but it seems that this reminder is for me. Sometimes, it also appears on my "News feed", but I do not have picture for this and I would post up soon if I see that again. The third party which sponsors such ads is www.getprotection.com.my. May I know is this third party an authorized reseller of ESET products, kinda annoying though. I appreciate that but email as a reminder is enough.Besides, this third party website also tracks me wherever I surf (one example shown in the pic below). Thanks and Regards.

  3. Kaspersky's analysis says the NSA made a breakthrough by infecting hard disk firmware with malware known only as nls_933w.dll capable of persisting across machine wipes to re-infect targeted systems.

Does it mean the malware will still stay in the infected system although the system is reformatted? It sounds sophisticated.

  4. Okay, about what scanner are you talking? The Facebook or the Twitter scanner?

And have you double-checked that the settings are correctly set to scan automatically?

It is the Facebook scanner. I have double checked them and they are correctly checked, especially the "Scan your profile automatically every day." However, it doesn't scan at all and I can see it states the last scan is 3 days or few days ago.

  5. You can try switching a particular scanner (real-time protection, web access / email scanner, etc.) to strict cleaning mode in the ThreatSense setup.

Thanks for the reply. I have set to strict cleaning mode but I can see it states that "automatically clean or delete all infected files without user's intervention". I am worried that it won't move to the quarantine but delete the infected files right after the detection.

  6. Hi, may I know how to set all the detected threats from antivirus and antispyware protection (excluding HIPS) to be moved in quarantine without user's intervention? I do not want any user's intervention for the detected threats because I am afraid of other people who use the computer would have problem with answering the alerts from ESET. Thank You.

Thanks to the replies. I agree with the statements above. I have been an ESET fan since few years ago. It has really impressed me a lot. I must say that it is something worth for the customers to actually purchase a reliable antivirus like ESET which has low system impact and provides reliable protection. I wish I could purchase one but I still not afford to buy one. However, I promise I will have it once I have $$$. Thanks and Regards.

  9. Hi, I am Sua from Malaysia. I was trying to find a suitable antivirus for my friend's laptop. I installed Bitdefender and Avira that have been tested to be have high detection rate in his laptop but the start up time for my friend's laptop was highly affected. Then I installed one of my favorite AV which is Avast!, but the start up time was also highly affected too and it has conflict with my Panda USB vaccine. I am quite frustrated about this. However, when I have installed ESET in his laptop and I am so impressed with its low performance impact and start up impact. Anyway, we are student and do not afford to buy the product. Hopefully, ESET will come out with a free one. Haha.. Thank You.
