  1. I already am using all of eset home line of solutions - Smart security premium and Pro, across Windows, Mac, Android, but was wondering whether there's anything that can be installed, like on Linux and connected directly to the router for full rt protection and IoT protection rather than relying on management from a client device? Or is there anything like this in the works at all??
  2. Hi all... Just as a brief background, i'm an analytics student and also web designer and digital marketer as a hobby. I am currently working from a home office under a tp-link archer ax90 router which I picked and am using because it's got a built in openVPN client, decent network security software, good throughput all in all better value for money and more efficient than other home networking solutions nighthawk, asus etc whith sacrificing ease of use like with ubiquiti stuff. Problem is, as a marketer based in a 'tier one' country but having clientele in Russia and China, trying to access the premium B2B and search services their at this time is an incredibly laborious process for me involving remote desktops and shadowsocks servers and probably more expenseive than it has to be. To simplify this, I want to use access point extensions on my local network that have client devices set-up to exclusively use for certain regions. I will probably need up to three such access points for different geolocations and I do not wish to use desktop clients to achieve this as I want to keep my main local network proxy VPN IP as separate as possible from activity on these proposed access point, esp as their will be other people using it and for important things too like banking access. Activities from these access points are unlikely to but may involve: - Dealing with foreign developers and testing software and apps that may harbour malware - Webscraping -web hosting, thus a possible influx of inbound traffic to local network In addition to this, as an avid web developer I would also like to stop shying away so much from being a little more hands when it come to learning about cybersecurity and basic admin stuff - something that I have tried to avoid since as i'm worried I might mess something up or misconfigure whilst experimenting with it (hence why I just being using a plug and play router up till now). As much as I like the versatility and chance to learn and play around with computer tech, security is something that i'd rather have a managed / semi-managed solution for, just as i'd hire an accountant or specialist lawyer for financial or legal advice, rather than leave it to reddit etc I'd also like a chance to scale up as I don't plan on working as a student from my attic bedroom forever.... Considering the above, I was wondering whether anyone could A - propose whether there are any eset for business applications that could help me in anyway here B - suggest a networking stack for me that won't be overkill or too expensive for my needs at this time, but will also allow for easy scalbility in the long run without interoperability issue taking up too much it me Currently i'm thinking of going with the entry level Meraki products for my main network and default gateway because of it being a brand of an industry standard company in enterprise networking, provide extensive customer support, knowledgbase, robust hardware and cloud based management and solutions for people who "might a basic idea of, but not really no what they doing to any professionals standard".... I feel this working with meraki will give me a gentle but very safe and secure introduction to networking for business, give me a line of products that are scalable but manageable by myself in the future for commercial purposes but also allow me to delegate to a professional sysadmin if I will need to scale up to the point it becomes to convoluted and time consuming for the purposes of a small to medium sized business. And For my access points I was thinking of flashing some refurbished routers with instances of OpenWRT..... (although I have also shortlisted vyOS, or IPfire/Opensense in conjunction with OpenWRT (for wireless access) I don't think these will be needed although I do like the sound of IPfire. Also heard about something called Open soucre IDS tools but I literally have no idea what they even do at this point of whether I need them at all. I will come to that later I guess. I can experiment with these for access point for my "office", as long as I feel my main home network is secure.... I suppose that is the crux of the matter i'm looking for advice on really? Anyone got any pointers here? Does it seem like a good approach? What about integrating anything from eset if they have suitable products? I would appreciate any thoughts or pointers on the matter
  3. Since CentOS is almost dead, is their any reason why this product will not work properly on these 1:1 binary alternatives? First time querying about Eset business solution as I wasn't aware that anything other than products for Windows based servers were covered.
  4. I have eset web and mail protection installed on a device with rt protection, I was also recommended a free web protection browser add-on like malwarebytes or norton. Is there any point in this? Does it offer an additional layer of protection or can it actually be counter-productive?
  5. I enabled both a third-party system wide anti-keylogger and eset safe browser. When I did so, the unintelligible encrypted keystrokes started appearing in the browsers text fields such as the address-bar and even on search engine search box. So is it safe to say that eset has a built in keystroke scrambler or is there something within safe browsers configuration that is "pushing" the antikeylogger app from functioning on lower non-graphical layer as it should?
  6. I know many types of malware and anti-botting systems, for example have vm detection perimeters. I would like to know if there is a method to spoof VM based guests OSs so that they look like they are being run authentically on physical devices?
  7. Although I am quite happy with most of eset related products and services so far, the password manager definotely wasn't one of them. I couldn't understand why the appstore reviews were so bad bad but after trying it, I understand better. It is extremely difficult to navigate, sometimes requires you to sign into the main vault for no apparent reason and appears to only be supported on safari. I was going to use it as a back-up pwd manager but not going to bother as it's too inconveniant as a OS agnostic option. I would recommend looking into bitwarden or saaspass (blockchain based manager) too to see if they are viable options for you. Whilst on the subject, I don't think there are any encryptd drive feature as part of eset suite for mac os client either? In which case you can use macfuse + cryptomator (both free) for encrypted file storage on mac.
  8. Just for the sake of an update, in case there have been similar issues - the same thing occurred three times everything else was working fine, just the above error involving web and mail protection - on BOTH my m1 mac and slightly older intel imac. I even tried re-installing Monterey but to no avail. Then I noticed that on each occasion I re-installed eset, I did so using my local IP everything was working fine until I enabled my favourite system-wide VPN - a decent quality, premium VPN, then somewhere along the lines the same error ended up occurring. Then I tried something different, I re-installed eset with my everyday VPN profile/IP enabled and now, everything has been working absolutely fine ever since on both devices, even when I disable the vpn or use a different vpn configuration file. I thought it might have been something to do with enabling mac os's built in mail privacy setting which hides the real IP but I think it's more to do with this system VPN I began using round about the same time Monterey was introduced. So everything appears to be sorted but just wanted to post this in case it might be of any interest to anyone who wishes to investigate the technicalities behind why the error occurred after enabling a system vpn post product activation.
  9. Got 4/5 such alerts in total and wondered whether anyone could shed some light on what it implies and the level of threat it should indicate. It is a a third-party mac app I downloaded because the app is freemium and apparently notarised by apple and probably implies it's safe, though i'm no expert so can't say for sure. I got it form the vendor's official website. I put installation on hold until just to be on the safe side.
  10. I tried installing a software, and was prompted with the following:
  11. OK. I've downloaded the log collector tool, which components should I tick (everything appears to be working fine except for the web and email protection feature)
  12. I have been getting an error informing me of the this problem, as highlighted in the screenshot. I have tried restarting my system and also disabling Mac's new mail privacy protection feature to no avail. Can anyone please provide me with some insight into what maybe causing the error and suggest how to resolve thanks.
