I really should have look into all theses first before flooding everyone with theses questions, sorry guys. I can only assume that my excitement and wanting to make this work the way I imagine got the best of me and I got a bit hyper 🙂
Wow I'm happy, it seem that all is working great I can navigate to main setting via tray icon or main GUI and all HDDs are sleeping I can say..It was worth the wait great fix ESET
I left all settings at defaults because I'm totally new to NOD32, should I or will I benefit or is it advisable to make any changes to default settings?
Any ETA on final release?
Thank you Marcos and all helping me with this I appreciate that

If you click on the question mark top right you get to this page: https://help.eset.com/eis/12/en-US/idh_config_devmon.html
Ahh I see, that's why is disabled by default, thank you.
I presume most people keep that at default

I know I have to get familiar with NOD32 I have used avast for so long and even small change to different AV but with such rich
futures requires some patients
-
What is the meaning of Device control. I have been enabling that , Its OFF by default.
I think I might have confuse this future. I have enabled that so I thought If I want the USB to be scan upon insertion I have the option but even with Device control disabled I still get the windows with option how to proceed and if I chose not to scan USB all HDDs are still sleeping witch I understand why scanning would wake them up.
What is that future. I think I'm getting somewhere now. it seem to work OK.
-
I don't know how on earth I got this in place I told you🙂 but yeas if you chose "No updates" issue is gone
-
Yes I'm sorry I just reinstalled ESET to check that and I was about to let you where exactly that future was

OK...If you go to ESET's setting there are 2 options " Internet Protection" and "Computer Protection"
Under "Internet Protection" there is a future were ESET notify user of MS windows critical updates, you can turn it ON or OFF, if its ON that's where the issue is when you click even once on "Update" on the left of GUI all of the HDD's are being turned ON but if you turn that future OFF problem disappears.
I should have also made more clear about the scan, it doesn't actually scan the HDD's but rather turns them ON. if I disable the function to scan removable media like USB stick and such, upon me inserting USB drive into my hub it wakes all HDDs again anyways.
Althou I enabled the device control which by default is OFF, I will try to disable that and try then.
What I love about NOD32 is that is so light and doesn't have any other unnecessary add-ons like avast does and why avast is so bloated now, there are ton of people turning away from avast.
NOD32 is like avast was 10-15 years ago, very clean and light yet powerful

Yes, we must gather information about available drives before we offer to scan them.
I can live with that but how about the USB drive, even disabling that future still scan all ALL HDDs, rather then only inserted drive I guess that is link to what you just explained to me I guess.
Thank you

Yes, we've moved drive enumeration to the Computer scan window instead of when the main gui was opened. Without that we would not know what disks are available. So the fact that disks will spin up on activating the Computer scan window is not a bug, it's actually the fix for the issue you reported with v12.1.
So by just clicking on "Computer Scan" and not even scanning them that will turn HDDs ON?

Do you mean that if you open the gui by double-clicking the tray icon the disks will spin up even with v12.2 installed?
Please clarify what do you mean by this? Could you provide a screen shot?
Hello Marco,
If you open GUI and click only once, not even double-click, on either "Update" or Computer Scan" that is on the left of the GUI the HDDs' gets turned ON.
If I go to ESET's setting which is under "Internet Protection" and disable the "Microsoft Windows Update" future, that seems to stop turning the HDDs if I click on the left panel of ESET's GUI "UPDATE" but still leaves me with the "Scan Computer" and I don't even scan the computer that part still turns HDD's ON.
I have also try disabling scanning of removable media and that part still turns HDDs On upon inserting e.g.USB pen drive to USB port
-
Unfortunately, even if I disable all media scan, it still turns all HDD's ON.
Why is this issue so persistent such a wonderful antivirus program.
Thank you guys for trying to help, you are very kind and I apologize for sounding rude and being inpatient.
Have a good day

I believe the only solution for this would be to disable Eset's scan alert for removable medium. This could pose a security risk.
OK so, It seems that if I disable Microsoft Windows Update under Internet Protection that stops activating all HDDs upon clicking on "Updates" on the left of GUI.
So now the only time HDDs are been turned ON is when I click on "Computer Scan" every time without even doing the scan

No.
As far as Eset is concerned, the default installation settings assuming PUA protection is enabled at that time provide the maximum protection.
OK here is so far my observation with this new release.
HDDs issues and main GUI its fixed with exception when I click only on "update" or "scan" on the left but I wont even do an update or scan the system the HDDs are being turned on.
Also, upon inserting removable media all of the HDDs are being turned ON again
-
Opening main GUI itself and HDDs issue has been fixed which is great but unfortunately as soon I toggle between any of the option on the left e.g. HOME, TOOLS ext. HDD's are being turned on again.
-
Thank you I will try that.
I was able to download and install the pre-release version, I'm exited to test it 🙂
By any chance, Is there a quick guide for the best settings of NOD32
-
And how is this pre-release version for current customers supposed to help me who's been waiting for months I still can't download anything and see if at least issue I reported has been rectify
-
🙄 No response! not a good sign...If you wish you can please delete my thread, my patients just went out the window 😀
-
Is the new release almost out. I have to admit, even thou I was looking forward to try the new release update and I have been patiently waiting for months hoping to switch from avast PRO I'm getting a little bit inpatient 🙄

@ Urbano -- Tzuk sold his product many years ago to Sophos and despite some concerns at the time, the product has continued to work well with regular updates - there is a mammoth thread at Wilders Securities
https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-acquired-by-invincea.357312/page-213 with this issue discussed on the last few pages and the Sandboxie forum is now housed at Sophos. Lifetime licenses have been honoured by Sophos, so I am not sure what you are talking about.
@Marcos - don't know about Win 10 - still using Win 7/64 bit - if I have time over the weekend I will try to generate the logs but looking at the posts here and at the sandboxie/sophos site,
the isssue should be reproducible by ESET
Yes I meant Tzuk.
Either I didn't make it clear or you misunderstood me. My comment it's not directed towards license, the only reason I have mentioned is that even thou I have about 30 lifetime licenses I had no choice but to ditch sandboxie due to similar and other unresolved issues.
I was experiencing very similar symptoms that you guy do but with avast Pro, so it's not only related to ESET, although, ESET might work around it, sandboxie has too many flows now.
I use DeepFreeze Enterprise with centralized Admin console, so I really wouldn't have to use any other isolating programs but it was pleasure of using Sandboxie while was still functioning admirable until recently.
Anyhow, what I'm referring to is that sandboxie has serious ongoing issues e.g. dealing with too many conflicts. leaking security outside box and other issues.
It seems that the dev of SB struggles to address the issues and that is one of the reasons why you can no longer purchase or renew the license and in due time SB will vanish, Its not speculation, its a fact, mark my word.
Running SB with security hols its like running AV with long overdue virus definitions, its pointless.
-
Are you guys referring to https://www.sandboxie.com/
I'm not sure if Zuk is still the developer but sandboxie its all screwed up and I think that's solely source of issue. I was one of the very first beta tester ( years ago) with # of lifetime licensees and about 3 months ago I have ditched SB due to # of issues that cannot be solved.....period.
FYI.
Zuk won't say it and again maybe someone else owned SB since, but he's letting sanboxie paying users expire and sandboxie is no longer in development...look for alternatives.
-
Boy o Boy it seem so far away, so I hope its worth the wait. I'm still using avast Pro and I have almost 1200 days of subscription on each of 7 of my personal systems that doesn't include my wife's workstations and I'm willing to switch if the update will brings fixes.
Thanks Marcos

Is there ETA on the new NOD32 AV v12.2 release that will address the HDD'S issue?
-
I'm very excited to hear that this might be fixed with next release, can't wait to try the new improved NOD32 Antivirus that fixes that issue.
Once it's all good with the new update I will be purchasing few licenses.
Thank you
Is it possible to get notification when the new final release is out ?
