  1. ESET blocking url, how to add a rule/exception.

    ESET Internet Security 12.1.34.0
    Win7 x64

    Hello!

    ESET is blocking a site and I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a rule/exception for ESET to allowing it.
    Tried various scan site for threats like VirusTotal, Kaspersky VirusDesk, Norton etc. and no issues, threats or malware found.
    The weird thing is the site worked just fine a few day's ago.

    Here is what I'm doing, (obviously wrong) because it doesn't work.

    Open ESET
    -> F5
    -> Web access protection
    -> URL ADDRESS MANAGEMENT
    -> Address list
    -> Edit
    -> List of address...
    -> Edit
    -> Add
    -> Add mask
    -> Enter a mask that... (paste the site url) (https://www.***)

    To get access to the site I now pause protection, that's OK but not optimal.

    Any info and suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...

    Best regards

    It appears you are manually starting up B&PP via desktop icon or within the Eset GUI itself.

    Enter the URL for your bank within an open FireFox browser session. Eset should auto open a separate B&PP browse session and directly connect to your bank web site.

    OK! Thanks to both of you! Problem solved, case closed! :D

    Kind regards

    hello @elle

    To keep your settings and make the easy the update you can go to "Updates" and hit to search for any updates and new versions.
    If a new versión is not show just wait, will be there soon.
    Even is you don't do anything our last versions of Home product has an auto-update related to the version. After install you just will be ask to reboot the system from inside ESET.

    Note: I don't know if your country has an special setting by ESET, so far in my region what I say happens.

    Hello!

    Thanks, that worked like a charm, can't get any easier than that!

    Now ESET shows 12.0.31.0

    I was asking because I thought I'd had to uninstall the old version before doing a complete version update.

    Wasn't it like that at some point, some time ago?

    I'm in Sweden but have the english language in ESET.

    What do you mean by "new blocked rules"? Please post a screen shot for clarification. Rules are not created nor added automatically except in learning mode. However, in learning mode only permissive rules are created. A screen shot should shed more light.

    An exclamation mark on a device means that some traffic from that device was blocked. Clicking the device and selecting "Troubleshoot" will open the firewall troubleshooting wizard with details about communications that were blocked with an option to unblock a particular communication permanently if it was legitimate and blocking it caused some issues.

    Please post a screen shot of the Connected home monitor screen for clarification.

    Yellow and blue exclamation marks on 5 devices.
    At the moment there are 2 devices C2 and C3 used by router showing that are legit.
    What about removing devices permanently?
    Click on any device I don't get an option to troubleshoot?
    sPkBVos.jpg
    Let's take it from there.

    Using "Interactive mode" on firewall.
    To get screenshots of the strange new firewall rules I have to rollback the OS... again... :(

    Update:

    Now I get this info on Connected Home Monitor.

    3 devices with mac adress ending C2, C3, C4.

    Tried to remove them but they keep coming back.

  5. Been using ESET for so many years and now this mess!

    Somethings changed in firewall rules after updating to new version 11.1.42.1 of ESET Internet Security.
    Got lots of new (hundreds) blocked rules that I had to "Unblock".
    Is that normal behavior?

    --> Connected Home Monitor <--

    Why exclamation mark on my router?
    Why are my devices renamed?

    3 new devices suddenly appear that belong to my router, they are legit with mac adress ending C2, C3, C4.
    How to "Remove  device" permanently?
    After removal they keep popping up... annoying!

  6.  1. Restore old HDD "image".
     2. Reboot - All is good.
     3. Reboot once more just to be shure... All is good.
     4. Updated various software, updates which I had stored on HDD, so no Internet connection yet, reboot. All is good.
     5. Disable automatic ESET update. Reboot. All is good.
     6. Connect to Internet. Not allowing ESET update. Reboot. All is good.
     7. Windows 7 64x updates as per 2018-03-22 installed, reboot. All is good.
     8. Updated Chrome and Firefox browsers. Reboot. All is good.
     9. Enabled automatic ESET update and problem is back... :(
    10. Started uninstalling software by recent installing dates and I think I nailed the culprit!!

    It seems to be a conflict with "Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Version: 3.2.0.9 (Latest) Date: 3/15/2018" Windows 7 64x

    Now I have the "ESET Internet Security 11.0.159.9" update. Will not update until via in-product updater is available.

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24345/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant

    After uninstalling that, reboot, all is good... F*** :D
    Really sorry for the confusion!

    Case closed... I hope...

    Best regards

    If Windows starts slowly after upgrade to v11.1.42, please create a Procmon boot log as per the instructions at https://support.eset.com/kb6308 (steps 1-4, the proceed with Gather boot log files instructions). Also collect logs with ELC (https://support.eset.com/kb3466/). When done, upload both archives to a safe location (e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) and drop me a message with download links.

    Not shure that will solve anything. I can repeat the issue without installing v11.1.42

    It comes back when letting ESET update.

    1. Load a newly image created image. All is well. Internet Network not enabled.

    2. Enable Internet Network, let ESET update. (Not v11.1.42 via software or downloaded "eset_internet_security_live_installer.exe")

    3. Reboot and the same problem is back... :(

    How did you update Eset; via in-product updater or install on top of a previous version?

    Both actually, the other day there was an update via the software itself, then I downloaded the update and installed.

    Today I noticed the 11.1.42.0 is not avialable through software itself.

    But the same slow start and the other issues appear no matter what update method I choose.

    Should I stop update until this issue is solved?

    What is the difference between the screen shot with 3 issues reported next to "Setup" and the screen shot where no issues are reported? Do those issues disappear after some time after Windows starts?

    Hello and thanks for your fast reply, appreciate that!

    The order of issues is:

    First a really slow start of ESET and the screenshot showing the network protection

    then the next image shows I don't have a license

    and finally after 1:55 the "You are protected...".

    After 1:55 the network protection is enabled.

    Also if PC Internet connection is disabled all other network devices are disconnected?!

    That never happened before update.

    Nothing wrong with my router Compal 500mb.

  10. Strange things happening after updating to -> ESET Internet Security 11.1.42.0 <-

    Really strange and veeery slow behavior when booting PC!
    1:55 min. at the moment! Normale boot process 30 sec.
    Loaded a newly created image prior to ESET 11.1.42.0 and all is good, until I update... F***!
    Here some screendumps showing the order of weird messages:

    Please advise!

    Thanks...

  11. @itman

    Thanks for your reply! Appreciate that!

    Yes, the link lightens in color and shows as active, clicking the link gets me to a new window:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thank You for Downloading

    Enjoy being safer online, secured by ESET

    Your download of file eset_internet_security_live_installer.exe has automatically started. If your download does not start automatically, please click here (download may start after a few seconds).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    LEFT click on "click here" nothing happens, RIGHT click gives me "Save link as..."

    Mouse properties is set as of your screendump.

    Update: I just found out it is a FireFox issue!? Damn!!

    Strange thing is this click and save behavour started when upgrading ESET.

    Will uninstall ESET and FireFox then make a clean install of both.

    Sorry for all the commotion...

    Best regards

    It's highly unlikely this would be caused by ESET. Moreover, I have never seen such behavior that right-clicking a link would automatically start downloading a file without selecting "Save as".

    Maybe you misunderstood?
    What I said was when LEFT clicking a link (.exe) nothing happens, then RIGHT clicking the same link I get to choose "Save link as..."
    This is a .zip file download which works when LEFT clicking on link and then it's saved to my specified destination.

  13. Thanks for your reply.  There is no problem in downloading, that works to my specified folder.

    The issue is that I can't left click on any link and download should start.

    I have to right click and choose "save link as".

    This is not any settings in FireFox or Chrome, it's some setting in ESET that I can't find.

    Edit 1: For example this link: https://www.eset.com/us/home/internet-security/download/
    I can't left click, nothing happens, but right click and "save link as" works.

    Edit 2: Perhaps this is by default when the file is an .exe? Suppose that's a good thing.

  14. Hello!

    Just renewed my virus/firewall to ESET Smart Security 10.0.390.0
    Looks familiar and I got all things setup as I wanted, almost all.
    Using interactive mode. Two things I can't figure out.

    1. Is there any way to change language or do I have to use an installer with desired language?
       I accidentally got the wrong language, I prefer english but got the swedish.
    2. When downloading for example an software update, left click on link and download should begin.
       As it is now nothing happens, I have to right click on link and "save link as".
       At first I thought it was someting in FireFox but the same happens in Chrome.

       I'd be grateful for any tips on this.

    Best regards
