Good evening, can you tell me how to fix this problem, (JS / Adware.Agent.AA Application). Overnight as many others obviously, I got blocked access to my usual streaming site. Could you tell us what to do at all so that we can again access our sites, because it is not a virus apparently, or tell us if a solution will be found? or tell me the subject or you propose a solution if it is already the case. Thank you (google translation my English is not very good)

I ran my PC for months without any antivirus and was OK.

I thinked like you, when I didnt use any AV but the CCleaner case, changed my mind about not using AVs because when CCleaner got hacked, no regular user could notice it, especially when the hacked version was on the Official CCleaner site.

I must say I got lucky at that time because I wasnt using CCleaner on my pc during the time it got infected.

If malware, adware or whatever is detected, a proper way of dealing with it is fixing the issue, not working it around by disabling detection, adding exceptions, etc. Otherwise one may get infected. Rather than excluding a website from filtering I'd recommend excluding a particular detection by the detection name if you are ok with that JS/Adware.Agent.AA javascript will run. Although it's related to a particular ad provider, we cannot guarantee that circumventing the detection is safe.

Can you please tell me how can I exclude that detection?

    ESET         99.1%    3FP          $59.99/year

    MSE           100%      5FP          $0/year

    AVIRA        100%     0FP      $0/year

    https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/real-world-protection-test-may-2018-factsheet/

You can just go for example to Youtube and search Windows Defender test and see a lot of videos where malicious aplications bypass Windows Defender/MSE protection.

You have to keep in mind that Windows Defender/MSE doesnt have any behavior blocker like ESET has(HIPS component) and that means that is purely base on signatures so for example if you put Windows Defender/MSE and ESET against a threat that they dont have signature to, Windows Defender will get bypassed by that threat but with ESET there is a chance that threat is detected by the HIPS component.

All of this to say dont believe in those results its impossible that any AV gets 100% protection against any threat because malware code keeps evolving and thats why AV companies keep adding new components to there AVs every year so they can fight against those new threats.

Also in regard to free AV solutions, "the devil is in the detail." Below is an excerpt from the documentation in regards to Kapersky's free solution. Note what I have highlighted in red:

What we have here in regard to free AV solutions by a vendor with like paid solutions is a classical example of "common sense is indeed not that common." AV vendors are not not-for-profit charitable entities. Despite their somewhat largess statements of "helping the masses," the primary purpose of offering free versions is to entice the user to upgrade to their paid version. The enticement also is sometimes not so subtle such as constant "nag" screens to upgrade to their paid versions and the like.

The new Kaspersky Free 2019 now has the System Watcher component but doesnt let you change the components settings(File Anti-Virus, Web Anti-Virus, System Watcher, etc).

For me both Eset and Kaspersky provide great protection but I use Eset because is a lot lighter on RAM, CPU and Disk usage.

    Hello,

    I'm Manjunath from India.

I'm a fan of ESET and am using it for past 5 years.

Earlier this month my three facebook pages were hacked and I no longer have control over the page. The hackers have become hidden admins of the pages and are posting their own content on the page.

I was shocked to see this happen as I had ESET installed in the system when the account was hacked. I've not entered the fb details anywhere and so I know I'm not phished.

I have tried EVERY possible way to report and block the page but the facebook help center is of NO use. There is NO option in facebook to report and block a hacked page.

I have formatted the system and reinstalled windows again.

I wanted to know if people at ESET can tell me how the account was hacked so that I can be careful next time. And is it possible for ESET to reclaim my hacked fb page for a price?

    Regards.

How do i stop the new PCU update to the new version, when you do resume the PCU update?

Can't find any settings for that in advanced settings in EIS.

I don't wanna be forced to update when that version had problems, and my current version is working great now (11.0.159.9)

I seem to remember that I had disabled 'LiveGrid' in the previous version and didn't get this red warning.

I also seem to remember to not have checked 'Enable LiveGrid' when installing the update to version 11.0.144.0.

Note that  I use the word 'seem' because I'm not 100% sure and can't check it anymore.

Is showing a red message when 'LiveGrid' is disabled new in version 11.0.144.0?

You dont need to disable LiveGrid for not having the Live Grid not accessible message you can disable that message by going to: Advanced Configuration -> User Interface -> Application Status (Edit) -> General -> Eset Live Grid not accessible (Turn it Off)

All is back to normal after first cold boot today; no LiveGrid connection alert. A couple of possible causes to yesterday's alert:

    1. There was an actual connection issue to the LiveGrid Eset servers yesterday morning. I did shutdown the PC yesterday afternoon, waited a bit, then rebooted and the LiveGrid alert did not appear.

    2. I noticed Eset is up to its "old tricks" of creating a new Windows root CA store certificate w/o deleting the old one. So deleted the cert. with the older date and just kept the cert. with the latest date - 2027.

However based on the newer postings in this forum section on the same LiveGrid alert issue, there does appear to be some issue with syncing with the LiveGrid servers in ver. 11.

itman are you getting this bug?

Sometimes when I go to the Running Process Tool (LiveGrid) some of the processes (Number of User are unavailable) but if I go back and try it again it show normally:

If you are getting notifications about problems connecting to LiveGrid servers, please carry on as follows:

    - In the advanced setup -> tools -> log files, change logging verbosity to Diagnostics
    - Reboot the computer
    - Download CloudCar
    - Collect logs with ELC and provide me with the generated zip archive.

The alert I received occurred when the Eset GUI appeared on the desktop taskbar after boot time. Windows networking was long enabled by that time. Which means normal Windows startup network Internet connections were well under way. Whether a browser connection for example was established is immaterial. Again, malware can be installed to run at startup time and it is LiveGrid's job to be performing reputational scanning on it.

That message only appear to me when I wasnt connected with Internet, please report it again if you see it again when you are connected with Internet(Take a print spreen if that happen again and send the logs to Eset Support).

The real question is if this is a security vulnerability? As Eset documentation notes, LiveGrid needs to be enabled for ransomware protection. Lets say ransomware is triggered to run via Win startup; registry run key, startup directory, etc.. If LiveGrid is not being enabled by Eset kernel at boot time, ransomware could run w/o being subjected to LiveGrid rep validation.

Maybe I am miss understanding you itman but for what I saw the TomFace LiveGrid notification happen because he wasnt connected to the internet, thats why that notification appear after he connect with internet the notification disappear.

+ Like I post before is easy to disable that notification(not LiveGrid):

Advanced Configuration -> User Interface -> Application Status (Edit) -> General ->  Eset Live Grid not accessible (Turn it Off)

Thanks SCR, but a couple reboots did not help. The signature update info also used to show on the start up splash screen, that too is gone. I have run across another "change". As I do not stay online with the internet all the time (only when I need to use it), I now get a yellow indicator on the ESET icon in the taskbar and a yellow gui indicator:

    59f087c9ea1ae_LiveGrid10_24_17.thumb.jpg.365e226fedf6563b6e4198fafcc94dd8.jpg

Granted when I do go back online, the yellow does disappear in short order and I do want to use LiveGrid, so another adjustment on my end is in order:angry:. Also just got a new error message that I need to check into.

    59f088465fee8_Renamefile10_25_17.jpg.a6b59373031223134df0ecbf1ed780f2.jpg

I may have gotten that one in the past but I'm not sure. Think I'll do a repair first and see what happens.

By the way, I really haven't even started to look at the new features:unsure:

For not having the Live Grid not accessible message when you arent connected with internet you can disable it by going to:

Advanced Configuration -> User Interface -> Application Status (Edit) -> General ->  Eset Live Grid not accessible (Turn it Off)

Hi. I´m trying the new Eset 10.1.231.1 and i´m really angry.

    1. Time to load windows: less than 10 seconds. Time to load Eset once desktop is loaded: 30 seconds.

    2. I have to wait that 30 seconds for the eset icon to appear on the system tray. (Nonsense)

    3. The Eset splash screen also appears 30 seconds later, when i´m already working in other things. (Nonsense)

    4. A command windows appear and dissapear every time i boot up my pc, loaded by eset. (Nonsense)

I know you had to change the behavior in order to acquire Microsoft certification, but i´m sure you can change the delay in the appearance of the system tray icon and the splash screen, and also the annoying command window.

If Eset is going to turn into a disturbing software I will have to move to Windows Defender Security Center wich is free and it´s not disturbing nor causing troubles.

Don´t play with customers and listen to us.

You can disable the splash screen for this "problem" be less annoying:
