You are right.

My mistake ... sorry ... I meant to say:

... I was probably already asleep when I wrote that the issue has been solved.

That means recent changes in the archive module (support for new archivers and packers added), advanced heuristics (improved code emulation), or cleaner (more locations to scan and clean) resulted in increased scan time which is rather expected (you would not want us to stop adding support for new packers that are misused to pack/protect malware to evade detection). Since we don't know yet which of the 3 modules has the biggest impact on scan time, please install the old modules again but always remove one of the 3 in safe mode before running a scan and try to narrow it down to the one that has biggest impact on scan time.
Hello,
again I have performed a full scan (custom scan -> deep scan -> as administrator) and I think I have identified the responsible file that is causing the long scan.
The biggest impact on scan time has this file: em005_64.dllIf the file "em005_64.dll" from the archive "oldmodules.zip" is located in the folder "c:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\Modules\", the scan will take about 1 hour (3905 sec. (01:05:05)).
If the file "em005_64.dll" from the archive "oldmodules.zip" in the folder "c:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\Modules\" is missing, then the scan will take almost 5 hours (16711 sec. (04:38:31)).
The other two files (em003_64.dll and em004_64.dll) from the archive "oldmodules.zip" do not seem to have any influence on the scan duration.
Maybe this will help ...

I've prepared a pack with older modules for you to test. Please carry on as follows:
1, Download the archive oldmodules.zip from
2, Extract the archive to a disk.
3 Start Windows in safe mode.
4, Copy the extracted dll files directly to "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\Modules", e.g. to "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\Modules\em003_64.dll", etc. Leave the other subfolders intact.
5. Start Windows in normal mode.
6. Run a scan that took long with the original modules.
7. Let us know about your findings whether the scan with the old modules took less time.
8, Start Windows in safe mode and delete the old dll modules.
9. Start Windows in normal mode.
Hello,
I did what you suggested.
Short version: I copied the 3 files from the file "oldmodules.zip" (em003_64.dll, em004_64.dll, em005_64.dll) to the folder "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\Modules". After that I have a full scan (custom scan -> deep scan -> as administrator).
Result: With the 3 files from the file "oldmodules.zip" everything works fine again.
With the three dll files from "oldmodules.zip" the scan took = 3965 sec. (01:06:05)
Without these files with the original version 16.2.15.0 the scan needs = 16711 sec. (04:38:31)
I hope this helps.

With Smart optimization disabled the scan may take long, I'd say that 2 hours for a complete registry scan is rather expected.
Hello,
it is definitely the version 16.2.15.0 which is causing problems. Before, my deep scan took 75 minutes, now it takes almost 6 hours.
In previous versions you could at least stop the updates if an update caused problems - this is no longer the case.

Same problem here!

I forgot to mention that I use NOD32 Antivirus.

Hello, I have a problem that I don't know if it is serious, but it is at least annoying. I tell you (I will use a translator, sorry):
When I do a quick scan (the normal one) it runs without any problem, but when I do the comprehensive custom scan and select all my drives, after a while after starting it freezes. The left menu animation (green circle) still works and the progress dots at the bottom keep moving, but the scan is stuck in any random folder. If I press pause or cancel, nothing happens and the animated green circle on the left keeps moving, it has happened to me twice recently.
I have the latest version to date of Eset Internet Security, Windows 10 updated up to date.
Opinions? 😪
Hello,
the same problem exists here: custom scan -> deep scan -> as administrator
The scan of some files now takes ages (over 20 minutes), which were previously checked in seconds.
Previously the scan was finished in about 70 minutes, now I abort after over 3 hours.
The quick scan runs without any problem too. This happens only since product version: 16.2.15.0

Hello,
after some research I have more and more the assumption that the responsible file (chartiq.js) is a false positive:
hxxps://www.boerse-stuttgart.de/assets/statics/chartiq.js?v=637110457080000000It would certainly be a good idea if someone from ESET could check this.
Thanks in advance. -
Hello,
since yesterday I get a warning (JS/Packed.Agent.D) when I visit the website: hxxps://www.boerse-stuttgart.de/de-de/produkte/indizes/db2ke7-db-dax-indikation

Hello,
I don't think you need another license.
QuoteI use a dual-boot computer with two separate operating systems—how many licenses do I need?
You only need (1) license, as you cannot use both operating systems simultaneously.Source: https://support.eset.com/en/licensing-faq-home-users#question7

Thank you very much for your offer.
However, I prefer to download the software from the original ESET-servers. -
Hello,
is there a way to download ESET NOD32 Antivirus 12.2.23 in German from the ESET-servers?
The problems with the Windows Security Center and the version 12.2.29 are a little bit annoying.
There were no problems with the previous version 12.2.23. -

The main gui cannot be smaller than the default size.
As Marcos and I already wrote, it is not possible to make the window smaller than the default size ... and exactly this is the problem with a resolution of 1024x600.

@ Marcos
This is not correct. In the previous version (11) you could still reach the menu items of picture 1 and 2 without problems.
I can say this with certainty because I updated to V12 yesterday. So I have the direct comparison of the two versions.
I suspect that the new element on the left "Recommend to a friend" has changed the height of the window.@ Rami
No, i can not resize ESET Window. It is not possible to reduce the size of the window.

Hello,
unfortunately the new version (V12) is almost unusable on netbooks with a resolution of 1024x600. All menu items at the bottom of the window can no longer be reached.
I suppose this is due to the new (and completely superfluous) element on the left side "Recommend to a friend".

@simplicissimus i just read your post, did your issue only happen after a system restore via a image as i only started to get this issue after system restore too i did one on the same day as Eset startred playing up.
I suppose that it does not deal with the image or restore.
I still suspect an update because in my case the problem appeared with the update 15517.This problem only happened with my 32-bit Windows 7 (not with 64-bit).

Maybe it is the same problem I mentioned here: EAV-program-window pops up on every start
Only a complete deinstallation helped me (read my last posting in the topic).

Hello Marcos,
many thanks for your answer.
After many attempts I have solved the problem. What did not work:
- repair of the program
- installation of the update 10.1.210 over the existing installation (10.0.390)
I had to uninstall the old version (10.0.390) completely (including all files which remained after the uninstall).
Then I made a new and clean installation with the live installer (10.1.210).
Since then I have no problems.I found remarkably:
- the system was restored by means of an image
- afterwards the program (10.0.390) made an update of the virus definitions
- the system was restarted
- EAV-program-window pops up on every start
All in all, EAV works again after the clean install and the EAV-program-window does not appear when Windows starts.
-
I have sent you the logs.
PS: It only happens on my 32bit-system.
Thank you.
