johngie 2
Sorry if this seems a really stupid question, but coming from NOD32 and Malwarebytes to Smart Security alone, does a scan with SS scan for viruses and malware? I have certainly seen several blocked websites with SS, so I know it detects malware "on the fly". John
Arakasi 549
Johngie, Malware stands for any malicious software A virus is a malicious piece of software, so it falls in the category of malware. NOD32 and SS run the same engine, SS has more added benefits like firewall among a few others. "ESET" scans for all types of malware, including. . . viruses, trojans, worms, rootkits, riskware, ransomware, exploits, droppers, as well as suspicious apps, potentiallly unwanted apps, potentially unsafe apps, and a plethora of other types of "Malware". Your on the fly detection is part of Real-time protection; included is also a HIPS (host intrustion prevention system) , Version 7 has (advanced memory scanner and exploit blocker) Dont forget you also have web protection which consists of a collection of http , https, and SSL protection, including anti-phishing which protects from websites etc. Edited September 22, 2013 by Arakasi
