  1. I'll just add to the above post, I then created a desktop shortcut to equie.exe and restarted my PC to check I could then start the process that way. But I found I didn't need to, ESET this time for the first time since I raised this problem 5 days ago started the process itself. So it appears by starting it manually I have given ESET the necessary 'kick' to resume starting it itself on system startup So problem solved (until It happens again)
  2. Ok I think I've found a workaround though not an ideal one. I went into The ESET security folder on my PC and did a search for all .exe files, Found one called egui.exe. So clicked on that and the console screen appeared and also the ESET icon in the system tray. So it seems for some reason ESET has stopped running this executable file at startup. But if I run it manually it then does what I need and gives me access to the console screen. As I said, not ideal but will have to do for the time being until I can find or anyone tell me why ESET has for no apparent reason stopped running this at startup while still appearing to run and provide the needed protection
  3. I'm not sure how to do that but in any case it'll have to wait as I'm in the process of moving home and need my PC working all the time, so can't risk doing anything that might affect that. It does look like at least ESET is running in the background and at least providing virus protection. It also appears from that email I unearthed that my current subscription runs to June, so I will just have to live without being able to access the console until I have finished my move and have time to try that complete uninstall. Thanks anyway for your help and suggestions - I'll bookmark this page to come back to
  4. Ok done the log collection now let's see if I can upload them here. Also I found my licence key in an email from ESET in June 2022, so assuming that is still the correct one I could uninstall and re-install ESET Internet Security if you think that will fix the problemeis_logs.zip
  5. As it seems the core problem is that eset_proxy.exe is not starting I did some searches and it seems there are several topic entries on this. Unfortunately the proposed procedures are far too complex for me as a simple user to do. I'm not up to messing with the register or anything like that. So again I ask would uninstalling and reinstalling ESET Internet Security help and if so where can I find my licence key when the console isn't running. Otherwise if I do nothing I won't know when my license expires and be able to renew it. so eventually ESET will stop working. Any help short of asking me to do technical things beyond my limited ability welcome - and no one has also told me how to raise a case ticket - thanks Peter
  6. I will do this when I get time but I note that it tells me at the end to then contact ESET technical support to send them the log but I cannot find how to do that. when I click on the webpage for technical support all it does is direct me to help topics. There is no option to raise a case ticket, or any information as to how to actually contact them, so how do I do that? Alternately should I just try re-installing the product and if so will I need my licence key?. As I cannot bring the console up because there is no taskbar icon I cannot find this. I just don't understand why this has suddenly stopped working and I also don't know if it means that ESET is still protecting me or not, Windows seems to think it is as it's not showing any 'warning you are not protected' messages
  7. According to task manager the only ESET processes that are running are:- ESET Forwarder ESET On-line payment protection ESET Firewall Helper ESET Service That's all - No ESET_proxi.exe Also it's not just the icon that has stopped appearing, the little ESET logo small window (used to be like a robot but now more like a phone or electric shaver, sorry I can't describe it better but hopefully you know what I mean), this up to yesterday showed after system startup and then the icon appeared. Now not only no icon but that window isn't showing on startup either So how do I raise a support ticket - I tried to do something like this but could only find this forum? Sorry I'm not the most technical person Peter
  8. For the last two days on startup the ESET Internet security starting image does not show on my windows 10 desktop and no icon then appears in the taskbar. It does appear that ESET is running though as my system security setttings say it is On and I can see some ESET processes running when I run the task manager (ctl alt del) I have checked that the icon is not simply set not to show in the taskbar, I have ALL icons set to show and even when I change that and then just turn on the ESET one it still doesn't show But without the icon to click there seems no way to brink up the ESET control panel in order to check if all is running OK Up to 2 days ago this worked Ok and to the best of my knowledge there have been no system changes since then. So how can I get it back please
