  1. In the Connections view there's an option to show Listening connections within the computer, but at a glance, you cannot distinguish them, so, can you add a (listening) on the name of every connection with that status and not on the port/IP address view when you deploy the + sign for every connection?

It makes understanding the Connections view much easier... Look at the attached picture..

  2. I see now and reproduced the issue too. I've been under the impression that the size is saved upon exit, however, it seems this functionality was removed or not functioning in v6+. I've asked engineers if this is expected behavior or if it should be reported as a bug.

Thanks, glad you could replicate it, and if it is working as intended -don't know why-... can you make a suggestion to modify the behavior so that it does remember window size and layout?

Thank you!! And everyone who pitched in on this!

  3. I mean that I make the window bigger, I don't use the default size, and it NEVER REMEMBERS IT. I have been saying this since the V4, never to have it fixed. Don't know if it's by default or if it's a bug and Eset just doesn't care.

Every other security app I've used (except Norton) remembers the window size when I change it, not ESS.

  4. I know to many this is a moot point but, I'm wondering if there will ever be a time when Eset will program their software so that it remembers the size of the screen set by the user.

I always resize the app screen so that it will show all the information I want in a glimpse, specially in the Network Connections screen, but it always resizes it back to the default size.

It's not that much to ask right?

  5. A list of supported email clients is available here. The fact that there's no support for Windows 8 Mail client isn't a bug but a missing feature. Since the engineers are fully busy working on several versions of ESET products at a time and there wasn't a big demand for support for the mentioned client, we do not plan to support it any time soon.

I'd like to emphasize that ESET is able to scan email regardless of the email clients, ie. even email received in Windows 8 Mail will be scanned as long as protocol filtering and POP3(S)/IMAP(S) scanning are enabled. As for SSL scanning, I, for one, haven't heard of any issues with regard to Windows 8 Mail. Are you able to reproduce it with a gmail account? Have you tried enabling pre-release updates and downloading the latest modules which have SSL scanning revamped?

So, let me get this right. You support OLD mail clients from the Windows Desktop environment

But you DON'T SUPPORT the one app that is ment to replace them in the latest version of Windows? Thats STUPID. Excuse the capps but that's what I feel.

And the SSL problem is not with email clients or emails but with web browser. Marcos you must remember me as MasterTB from your times on the Wilders Forums back when Eset offered support there and I always complained about Eset SSL certificate not being installed or presenting problems to sites and navigation in general.

For instance, today, when I installed the beta (after disabling my stable install of ESS) I tested the SSL by telling this site that I had lost my pasword and I wanted to change it, but I couldn't see the captchas, even though the site has a valid certificate, after that, I disabled SSL, cleared the browser cache (IE11 and Opera 23) and could see the captchas correctly on both, ERGO, THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH SSL NOT ALLOWING FULL NAVIGATION.

    So, the bug report.

EDIT: I just tried the same thing (enable SSL Protocol protection) on a Stable ESS install and told this site that I had lost my password and I could see the captcha and complete the process, so there is some bug in the Beta with SSL protocols. Or it's just f**** up on my machine for some weird reason.

  6. If there is one thing that sets Eset apart from the rest of the pack,it's support without a doubt. It is a beta, and as such.i would certainly expect issues. That's the whole purpose of beta testing..to have come to light issues which the testing lab cannot replicate.I would certainly advise patience. Not every issue will be squashed quickly. Some will take longer than others as I am sure you will know.Just be sure to use the built in support form or hxxp://www.eset.com/int/beta/form

Both issues are present in the latest stable. There's no support for windows mail (have never seen eset scan any message) and the SSL scanning has always had issues.

That being said, as a beta tester I HAVE TO REPORT ISSUES, otherwise, why bother testing? I mean, they should at least fix what's broken or be made aware of it, right?

  7. I have installed the new Eset ESS beta on my PC (activated using my license) and to my surprise, Windows 8 Mail Client is NOT SUPPORTED.

    Come on guys!!!!

Also, enabled SSL protection (or protocol scan) and can't see captchas on any site, even though I have set the scan only to new sites to be able to set exceptions.

Will you ever fix this thing? IT's been causing issues since it was first introduced and this is getting OLD PEOPLE!

FYI the first captcha that failed to display was for this very own site of yours (I simulated having lost my password and presto, could have never completed the procedure to get a new one because the captcha never displayed on screen, that's a BIG FAIL FOR YOU GUYS.

It seems that site hxxp://eune.lolesports.com/  is blocked as well. Pretty annoying, considering the fact that there are ongoing League of Legends World Championships :/

I'm able to access it without anything being blocked. There was a reason for the block as the domain referenced from the website in question has recently hosted malware endangering users.

It's understandable, but you (ESET) cluld at least have provided more info on the detected threat and that it was not hosted in the Leage Of Legends site itself.

Blocking that site just for a refference it's NOT OK.

btw, IF the threat was in a favicon as the message says (yes, I still can't access the site) you could block just that and let the rest of the site load, right?

Sloppy work here, specially considering -as another user said- that the LOL world championship is ongoing at the moment!

For how long did you wait for SysInspector to finish creation of the log? Sometimes it may take several minutes to create it, depending on how many items are parsed.

It did créate the image, but when I right clicked the image I couldn't open it. I saw the message from the program saying that the image was created if that's what you're asking.
    • For what is worth, this is what I did. I opened the ESS gui, went to tolos, clicked on Sysinspector tab, created an image (which took a while but not that much -fast pc-) and when it was done right clicked the image to see it, that's when the gui froze and I couldn't do anything else with it until I restarted the pc.
  9. Hello,

Historically, ESET has begun supporting new versions of Windows around the same time they are available in the retail channel.

Windows 8.1 becomes available in the retail channel on October 18th, 2013.

Please check back then for the latest information about updates and compatibility.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Well, don't get me wrong but an answer like that is at least lame. I know you probably don't ship your software preinstalled with many oems but, I'm guessing that if you are going to start providing your software as fully compatible only by the time it goes retail, you're going to loose A LOT of customers. And this is coming from a user with a 2 years licence and Win8 In both his pc's.... so take that into consideration.
