  1. Hi, we're not running the file server solution. Just the standard Endpoint Antivirus installed on servers and clients with the Admin console also on one of the servers. Everything is 6.1.2222.0. Mark
  2. I agree. We rolled out v6 on a large percentage of our machines and immediately noticed a huge performance drop from v5. I've been on the forums and tweaking settings to try to improve things but rolling back to v5 seems to be the best option. I can't afford to spend days and days tweaking settings and troubleshooting. The bad thing is: our maintenance with ESET expires at the end of May (1 month) and my boss may force me to look at other options for an antivirus solution if ESET can't get their act together and release an update that fixes some of these issues. EndPoint Antivirus 6.0 is quite a disappointment and a far cry from the AV solution I've trusted for the past 7 years. Mark
  3. Hello Anton, the version of v6 we are running is 6.1.2222.0. And YES, our servers are all Windows Server 2003 boxes! Thanks for the suggestion and the confirmation of a problem with v6. I was thinking of going back to 5 on the servers but it would be nice to stay current with ESET and I was hoping for a fix. Mark
  4. Hi, disabling real time protection on the server made a huge difference. Disabling real time scanning on only the client did not make any noticeable difference. Example: With Endpoint 6 enabled on both server and client - Attaching an XLS spreadsheet to an email took 8-10 seconds. With Endpoint 6 disabled on only the server - The attachment was instantaneous. With Endpoint 6 disabled on client and enabled on server - The attachment still took 8-10 seconds. Note - I used 3 separate spreadsheets for this test to rule out any caching, but they were all approx 500k in size. Network drive scanning in the real-time protection was already disabled on both client and server. Mark
  5. Hi, we are having performance issues on our client machines since upgrading to Endpoint 6 from Endpoint 5. I'm trying to go through the issues one at a time to see if they can be fixed through modifying the scanning parameters. Our setup is that we have 2 file servers which store around 100 TB each. They both have Endpoint Antivirus 6.0 installed on them with the "File Security for Windows Server" profile loaded from the Remote Administrator. Then we have about 15 client computers which access those file servers. These client computers also have Endpoint Antivirus 6.0 installed on them. So my question is: in this situation, when a remote file is accessed from a client(let say opening an AutoCad file) does the server perform a scan AND the client perform a scan before the file is allowed to be opened? Are there setting on the server that could be tweaked to increase performance in a situation like this? Thanks, Mark
  6. By disabling real-time protection on the file server and enabling the scanning of network drives on the client, the problem also goes away. So by that, I guess it's the scanning that is occurring on the file server that is causing the issue? Not the client computer?
  7. Yes, the remote computer (server) also has ESET EndPoint Antivirus installed.
  8. Hello, thanks for the reply. Disabling real-time protection allows the software to run. Further narrowing it down: leaving real-time protection on but disabling "Media to Scan - Network Drives" also allows the software to run. The project file is on a networked drive so I guess by disabling the scanning of network drives, that also worked. Is there a way to narrow it down even further or create some sort of exception for the software? Thanks...
  9. Hi, we just upgraded to Endpoint Antivirus 6.0 (from 5.0) and it now seems to be blocking a particular software program we use. I work for a mapping company and the particular program is some flight planning software called TopoFlight. I can run TopoFlight, but as soon as I try to load a project file, the software seems to lock up and Windows says the program is "Not Responding". If I disable Endpoint Antivirus 6.0 the program works normally and loads projects normally. So Endpoint Antivirus 6.0 must be doing something to block it or lock it up. My question is: what do I need to do to allow this software to run? Thanks, Mark Prenter
  10. Figured it out. It was a DNS issue. The computer appeared twice in the reverse DNS entry under two different names. So that particular computer WAS showing up, but under Lost & Found and under a different name. I removed the extra DNS entry and deleted the computer in the Lost & Found. Then it reconnected under the correct name. Whew.... I still don't know why that machine appeared twice in the reverse DNS. Bad DHCP perhaps... Anyway, it's working now. Thanks for getting me pointed in the correct direction. Mark
  11. Hi, by "product" I assume you mean the agent. I have installed it both by using the stand-alone agent installer as well as connecting to the ERA console thru a browser on the client and selecting the "Agent Live Installers" quick link to download and install the agent via the .bat file.
  12. Hi, we're just installing the Remote Administrator and Endpoint Antivirus 6 in our small business. I've got the Remote Administrator server setup and I've successfully installed the agent and antivirus on about 10 computers but there is one computer that just won't connect to the Remote Admin. I've removed and installed the agent several times, rebooted. The C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Agent\EraAgentApplicationData\Logs\status.html on this computer shows all green with no errors., yet on the Admin Console, this computer still shows as unmanaged as if the agent isn't installed yet. There is nothing odd about this computer. It's a Windows 7, 64-bit machine. Other computers like this connected fine but this one just won't show up. Any suggestions?
