  1. The esmc updates directly from eset servers and both endpoints use proxy to get updates from the esmc server. One of the 2 protected 2016 servers is the ESMC server. As i mentioned, when i noticed this on the other 2016 server (stopped updating on May 1 when i discovered yesterday May 2), as soon as i logged in to the server, just leaving it as desktop and not opening anything, it updated on its own. Its not an issue of the esmc server downloading definitions for the file security endpoint as the last time this happened, one of the 2 servers was updating fine. I have a total of 8 endpoints (6 windows pcs and 2 servers) on the ESMC. They all use the custom Management agent policy I created and the windows pcs have no issues. I noticed this problem a week or so ago when both servers wernt updating. I logged in to each server just to see what the actual endpoint log files said. I originally thought it was something i changed in the server policy  but now thinking back, i logged in to both and they started updating again on their own.

How can i reproduce a random issue?

  2. I am starting to migrate form v5 to V7 and ESMC. I currently have 2 2016 Servers running 7.0.12018 file server agent. Twice i have noticed that one of both of these servers just stop updating definitions. No errors i can see. 2 Days ago one of the 2 servers stopped updating again but as soon as i rdp in to server it updated on its own( i did not open the eset gui on that server). Both servers are getting the same 2 policies. Is there a bug with regards to this? Needing to be logged in for updates to happen?

  3. about 110 endpoints.....all my servers are running in a VMWare environment...desktops are not virtual....i cannot answer your cloud solution question..i am sure you are trying to find out if if the cloud version of Security Managmenet would work for me....but not having had my hands on the interface, i do not know which i would prefer...i am leaning towards having one management server onsite vs cloud.....

  4. Currently run ERA 5 with legacy licenses. Looking to move everything to a V7 solution. A few questions

    1. If i convert my 2 legacy licenses to a new key to use in V7, will the old legacy V5 continue to work along with the newly convert keys?

    2. I need to create a Admin license account. I assume the email address user does not need to match the email address the license keys were sent to almost 3 years ago. I would like to just use an admin email address as it appears that this account info is used in the V7 console to link server with my existing licenses.

  5. Coming from v5 and looking to go to V7...the new Security Management Center is a little overwhelming looking at some random videos i have found online. Is there a support doc that outlines how to set this up from beginning to end? possibly a video series ? I plan on setting up as new and migrating endpoints over as i get updated endpoint software installed on each client. My current environment is either running endpoint AV for Windows pcs and also file security on windows servers....with about 6 or 7 policies set up.. Nothing complex. I would like to keep the v7 admin as simple as possible.

  6. Thanks for the info so far...I am really interested in feedback from users currently on 6.x (that came from 5.x)with regards to stability and /or issues with the current endpoint and file server agents.. I know when 6.x first came out it had some major bugs...curious if the 6.x product has matured enough to have all those previous glitches taken care of..

When i upgraded from 4.x to 5.x, i stood up separate admin servers...then did the upgrade process for the endpoints at each pc...I am really not one to push installs to endpoints...and the number of endpoints i support  i can easily manage at each pc...

  7. Looking to upgrade my 5.x endpoint client and FIleserver 4.x client. Looking for feedback on most stable and problem free 6.x version i should upgrade to. I have been reading thru the forums and saw some issues mentioned here and there with Windows endpoint problems and also saw a mention of very slow file access on Windows servers from a year or so ago with no obvious solution form ESET.

  8. We still have this content available (via google search and direct URL), but we have removed it as an alert because the prevalence of the issue (via technical support) has decreased significantly.

Issues downloading updates in previous versions of ESET Endpoint products (5.x)

You should probably contact your local ESET partner for support to troubleshoot.

Maybe support requests have dropped after you published the fixes for the problem....maybe if you would actually release the updated modules ....they would drop to nothing...curious as to what your definition of "soon" is...been almost 2 weeks waiting for the updated modules...

  9. thanks for the update...hopefully all the updated modules fix all the problems related to this...your advisory only reference 5.0.2254 endpoint...my worse offending pc with these download/memory allocation errors....i upgraded that pc to 5.0.2260...problems still continued...

  10. i believe the update instructions are missing some components....there is nothing at the end of the instructions for how to stop logging and or which log files are needed..nothing at all on what needs to be done with process monitor after opening or what needs to be done with wireshark at the end of the testing...

  11. does it help for me to tell you that the update downloads....but on the second "update screen" where it shows 0/2 or 0/3 (not sure what the second scrren does...maybe apply the actual download)...it usually fails between 1/2 and 2/2...hangs right after 1/2 then goes to failure...the last configuration download in the ERA window for a stuck client....is usllay back a few hours....when the last successful update happened...
