  1. Thanks for the info. I was certain that I can not go safely above 6.5 on xp, was not sure though about the agents. As for upgrading my VA to ESMC, I'll definitely wait for the service release. BTW, do you have some sort of announce-style mail list for significant new releases like that, to subscribe to? The IP/DNS part. It is not clear that to perform an upgrade, you have to install the new ESMC VA temporarily on a new IP/DNS first, perform an upgrade migrate and then do this last part: Perhaps it would be nice to detail how to setup IP/DNS of the new appliance, before doing the upgrade migrate, and how to setup it afterwards.
  2. Hello, got an ERA 6.x VA appliance. Most of the clients are still Windows XP clients running ESET Endpoint AV 6.5.x. Now ESMC rolls out, and I see that there are issues regarding compatibilities etc. Two questions: 1) How can I migrate to ESMC VA from ERA VA? The ERA DNS name and ip will stay the same. Furthermore, ERA server is joined to my domains (which is a good, I believe, thing here). EDIT: I stumbled upon this https://help.eset.com/era_deploy_va/65/en-US/pull_db_from_other_server.html however, I want to deploy the ESMC on the same IP/DNS name. How can I modify this procedure? 2) Do you foresee any problems managing those old XP/ESET ENdpoint systems under ESMC? <grunt>I really hate the fact that I have to perform administrative work to switch my server/console. That should be done as part of an automatic upgrade procedure, and not requiring us to go through the hoops here...</grunt>
  3. Thanks, I now believe this is a host-related issue. I will track it from PVE-side.
  4. Hello, I am using the ERA VA image (vmware version) on a VM running on a KVM-based system, proxmox virtual environment (PVE). Now, I know that this is not a supported environment, however it works fine with one notable issue. Since PVE does not have something like vmware tools installed to provide host-generated commands, like shutdown/reboot, shutting down presents here a problem. PVE sends an ACPI shutdown signal to the VM, however it seems it is not obeyed. I'm writing this to confirm whether ERA VA accepts ACPI shutdown commands. If not, can one install the QEMU agent tools to provide the same functionality as vmware tools?
  5. Thanks, I'll do that. Is Endpoint 5.x manageable from ERA6?
  6. We have just started using ERA 6 (VA) and have to protect a small number of Windows 2000 boxes (yes, they are unfortunately still around). I have a license key that I have installed on ERA and Endpoint Security 6.x clients are fine. From what I've read so far, Endpoint 5.x supports Windows 2000. However there are no options to create a full installer based on 5.x. Furthermore, I think that I've read that 5.x clients require user/password based licensing. I'd be grateful if someone could clarify some of these questions.
  7. I tried and failed to reproduce this issue. This stick contains two partitions, so nod32 popped up two dialogs. No freezes this time. Please consider this issue solved.
  8. At the moment I am in the midst of an operation that should not be interrupted, so I'll refrain from trying to connect this usb again. Will try to post a screenshot later on. In any case, the dialog box that popped up was the usual scan/do not scan this usb stick. The rest of the system remained operational, however the ESET gui froze and had to end. I restarted it from programs and operated just fine afterwards. As for the procedure: grab the easy2boot installer from hxxp://files.easy2boot.com/200003255-d4473d53c9/Easy2Boot_v1.98.exe Having installed an empty stick on a system, run this installer and select "Make E2B drive". This makes some special repartitioning on the stick. For instructions see hxxp://www.easy2boot.com/download/ I'm using this as a general rescue boot usb stick, having loaded macrium reflect, systemrescuecd, acronis true image, seagate disc wizard, memtest86+ etc. Obviously the procedure you are going to use will create a stick without any boot images, but I believe you might be able to reproduce the issue.
  9. System: windows 10 home 64bit (1803) NOD32 Antivirus 11.1.54.0 Just switched to NOD32 after a long time of using Kaspersky, Webroot, Norton Security. Upon connecting a specially formatted USB stick (Easy2boot) a dialog popped up asking whether to clean it or not, which immediately afterwards became unresponsive. System freeze does not happen on "normal sticks". How can I avoid this freezing?
