  1. Hello,

    Thanks for the reply siljaline.

I am not having problems with websites but the problem is with the new Opera 15 browser. I always get that error when booting my system but it also can occur at other random times. The error always occurs immediately after boot/logon before any browser is open. Once Opera 15 is open and running, random SSL sites fail to load with certificate errors. It is entirely random as what site has the error now, next session it will work fine. Some sessions even go without certificate errors, but the main error after boot/logon is always there. The forums here, so far, have never given me any problems...

  2. Hello,

    Is this update generally available?

    -------------------------------------------

Upgrade to ESS 7 beta 7.0.104.0

    -------------------------------------------

    Win7ProSP1 64bit ENG
    Upgrade ESS7Beta (7.0.28.0 --> 7.0.104.0) 64bit ENG

Product update check from within GUI shows 7.0.28.0 is up to date.

Beta page still has 7.0.28.0 as the download.

I could not find nor get the update to 7.0.104.0...

  3. Hello,

Sorry, I cannot speak for ESET as to whether they block any emails during the beta registration or not. I only spoke from my experience when I had to uninstall the beta, then reinstall it a couple of days later. I could not register using the same email address but found a new, previously unregistered, email address would work. I later found out that I could request my beta trial user-name and password from the above link I posted, and that worked also for me.

I am sorry that neither of these methods worked for you...

  4. Hello, thanks for the reply,

I guess I pretty much knew the answer to my question before I posted it. I have been using NOD32 a very long time since version one and been using ESS since the very first version came out. I have been using TheBat! just as long and have been requesting an anti-spam plug-in for TheBat! since ESS was introduced. It does not hurt to ask or request every now and then, does it? I can only be patient and hope that one day a plug-in will be available.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Marcos...

  5. Hello,

I inadvertently left out one point in the post above that I need to add. Adding anti-spam support for TheBat! would give ESET a big advantage for TheBat! user-base as ESET could be one of the few (if not the only) major anti-virus/security software vendors to provide support for TheBat!. One would think, with the large number of TheBat! users out there, that ESET would want to attract more of this particular user-base.

  6. Hello,

I am sure that you probably have received this request previously. However, I did not see it here on the new forums nor did I find it here in the beta section. TheBat! is an extremely popular email client by Ritlabs (maybe not as popular in the United States but it is used extensively throughout the rest of the world). It should not be that hard to code and judging by the revision history of TheBat! and other Anti-Spam plug-ins available for it, once coded, the maintenance for the plug-in should be minimal. In many places in the world, TheBat! is used just as much as Outlook, Windows Mail, or Thunderbird (if not more in many cases). I would be eternally grateful if this could be done and you could consider it. With anti-spam being a major feature of ESS and the premium price of ESS, it is hard to pay for a feature that you cannot use. I can speak for the many, many TheBat! users out there by stating we would be even more loyal to the use of ESS and feel that we would be more willing to purchase or renew ESS as we would feel we were getting more of what we paid for. Thank you very much for considering this and on behalf of many TheBat! users look forward to the possibility!

  7. Hello,

There are difference in our systems:

    Windows 7 Home 64 Bit >>> Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit

    NOD32 v7 beta >>> ESS v7 beta

Other than that, the only other security app I run is WRSA-AV.

One would think that it would have to be traced back to some difference in our set-ups. I am running ESS with the default settings by the way. I really can't tell you much more since I am not having the issue...

  8. Hello,

Could you try and reload yahoo.com, like at least 10 times and see if you get the blank page?

I did as you requested and all pages still loaded properly here on IE10. I also tried compatibility view in IE10 as I know that sometimes breaks pages but all pages again loaded properly. I did not notice what browser that you were using but that is another possible difference in our systems that could help to narrow down the issue. Sorry could not have helped more...

  9. Hello,

FYI... I also run Ad Muncher but I am on Windows 8 Pro x64 using ESS 7 beta. I tried going to the link you posted and navigated around that site a bit. I am not having any problems at all here as all is working fine. Maybe something specific to your system such as the different OS than mine, NOD32 specific as I am using ESS, or perhaps another security product is also installed along with NOD32?

  10. Hello Peter,

in that folder dumps of ESET service are being written in case of crash.

    .....

Open ESET Smart Security/ ESET NOD32 Antivirus -> press F5 -> Tools -> Diagnostics -> select "do not generate memory dump" from the Dump type drop-down menu and confirm by OK.

I went to these settings in order to change the location of these diagnostic files (C drive is auto-imaged and the quantity and size of this folder was adversely affecting my imaging) so my partition imaging would not be affected. Even though I could browse to the new location, I could neither select that location or paste the new path there. In short, even though the setting was there for me to change, I was not allowed to change it. Is this a bug or a feature not fully implemented yet? Thanks...

  11. Hello,

That folder seems to collect diagnostics such as full memory dumps and mini dump files but as to why so many and the amount keeps growing? Is the presence of these files and the fact that more are constantly being created an indication that my installation of ESS is malfunctioning in some way? I am now concerned that my ESS is not functioning properly...

  12. Hello,

That particular folder is growing on my machine also but not as much as yours. It seems to be adding 2 files totaling around 200 MB every one to two hours. My folder size just hit 3GB and I have only had the beta installed for about 2 days. It seems to be growing at the rate of 1.5 to 2 GB a day. I have not seen this before in previous versions either.

  13. Thanks Marcos,

OK, if I understand it all correctly, it explains why the "Always scan SSL protocol" does not work with a lot of third party apps. I also assume this explains why when you have it set to "Ask about non-visited sites" and then using "Trusted certificates" does not work either. In these instances the only option left is to add the certificates in question to the "Excluded certificates". Is my understanding correct? If so, I now know how to go about setting it up properly. It seems this thread is not about a bug with the beta, but about setting up the SSL protocol filtering properly in order for it to work. Thanks a lot!!!

  14. Hello,

I am also getting a lot of TLS handshake failures when using SSL protocol filtering with my email client The Bat! :

This issue happens about 2 out of 3 times when retrieving emails from Google. I also use two other email providers with no issues (also with SSL). If I disable SSL protocol filtering then the issue goes away... I also noticed from above that it is never able to connect to an IPv6 address while SSL protocol filtering is enabled.

  15. Hello Marcos,

True, although not the nice solution and a bit inconvenient in my particular case. I like to do full in-depth scans monthly on the first day of each month. Your workaround would indeed work but the inconvenience would be doing a monthly recalculation of the interval in order to have the scan occur at that particular time. I realize I could be nitpicking a bit but to me the purpose of a scheduler is to set up a precise recurring pattern of tasks that you wish to perform on an ongoing basis. For me, it would be just as easy (and inconvenient) to try to remember and run the scan manually on the first of each month. In either case, the ideal of course would be to "set it and forget it". I would like to commend you for "thinking outside the box" in coming up with this workaround. Whether I manually do a reschedule each month or just try to remember to run the scan manually, I still think the monthly option would add more granularity to the scheduler and make it (at least in my case) truly "set it and forget it". Thanks for the feedback....

  16. Hello,

Please bear with me if I ask any ignorant questions as I am not too very well knowledgeable in the area of SSL. I have the same issue also with Trillian instant messenger. In order to keep "Always scan SSL protocol" enabled and for Trillian to work, I have to add all certificates involved to "Excluded certificates". As far as I know I have everything set up correctly. I know in the case of browsers, ESS installs its own certificate into the browser. Could this issue stem from ESS not being able to install its certificate into a third party app such as RoboForm or Trillian? Is much security lost by excluding certificates? I assume ESS will still stop the malware but just later in the process after the data in decrypted...
