  1. Hi,

Facing issue while activating Endpoint Client AV using remote task.

Client is using ERA 6.4 and AV 6.4 while giving activation task it goes fail. Client AV doesnt have internet access, we have setup apache http proxy.

Then tried activating AV individually but unable to activate. Gives error unable to reach to activation server

We ran V9ActivationTroubleshooter provided by support[at]eset.com again tried activation and its successful.

Here I am attaching the logs checked on 2 different workstation within the same network.

Since this is the only solution, can we save the file on network path & use run command from ERA to execute this file on client workstations with fix syntex

  2. One of our customer has installed ERA 6 on windows 8 system. Firstly he has added NFR license on ERA and then activated few Clients AV, after some days later he received his new license, so he removed NFR license from ERA & added new license and then again triggered activation task from server selecting new license, even after successful task, client expiry date and license detail doesn't change in client AV. Also tried activating license on individual client but same issue.

I tried activating remotely and separately on client system but same issue.

Screenshot of the client details as follows:
Screesnshot_1: Client PC, still showing old license after activating with new license remotely.

Screesnshot_2: Client PC, still showing old license after activating with new license remotely and separate activation on Client.

Screesnshot_3: Client PC, Showing new license activated individually (No remote task)

Screesnshot_4: New License uploaded on ERA

Screesnshot_5: Activation Task created with new license.

Screesnshot_6: Task finished Successfully but still Expiry date doesn\'t change (Clients are screenshot_1 & 2)

  3. Not asking for secured browser: https://www.onlinesbi.com/

I just ran a QUALS test on this web site. There are major security issues with it. This might explain why Eset's secure browser is having an issue with the web site. Personally, I would not do any online banking at that web site.

    Thanks itman for ur input...

This is the banking website and you might have understood that how much security we people need here. ;)

It's acceptable that website might have some security issues. But ESET should provide automated option to open banking sites in secured browser...

If ESET doesn't then what is the use of bamking protection...

  4. Hi,

    We have installed ESS v9.0.381.

When we visit banking websites (https://www.onlinesbi.com/) from regular browser, it doesn't ask to switch to secure browser except website  https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com/netbanking, we have checked in Internet Explorer but in Google chrome none of the banking websites asks to open secure browser. when we add websites manually then it works only for Internet explorer.

Banking protection should detect all the categories of banking and finance related websites.

Please check why this is not happening automatically.

  5. I have checked on download portal that new build 6.3.2016.2 of Endpoint is available with some different languages but in English the build available is 6.3.2016.0

Is there any difference in both build?

I am asking because one of my user has installed EES 6.3.2016.0 and suddenly his firewall started showing non functional, we have reported this issue to support[at]eset.com and waiting for reply.

Meanwhile my user has checked with New Zealand support as some of workstations are facing same problem in his New Zealand branch. So the New Zealand support says that this issue is resolved in new build 6.3.2016.2.

Please check and confirm about it.

  6. Yes, It is necessary to install Agent on ERA server whether its linux or windows,

The ERA Agent facilitates all communications between client computers (both endpoints and servers) with ESET products installed and the ESET Remote Administrator Server (ERA Server). The ERA Agent stores and enforces policies for the client computer on which it is installed with or without an Internet connection. This allows client computers to respond more quickly to threats, and eliminates the risk of a client becoming vulnerable to a threat if it cannot communicate with the ERA Server.

  7. Hello,

Activation task works in a way, that it tries to reach "edf.eset.com" upon activation (if you execute a standard activation task from ESET Remote Administrator).

Therefore you are correct, that internet connectivity (either direct, or via proxy (which is configured in advanced settings of ESET Endpoint Antivirus / Security => Open ESET GUI, Press F5 => Navigate to "TOOLS" => Open sub-menu "Proxy Server and configure your proxy server settings)) is needed on clients. You can configure proxy server also via ERA policy. If you would like to use it for updates, you need to configure also proxy server settings for updater.

If your client is completely offline, you can alternatively utilize "activation using offline license file", however in this case, you have to make sure to disallow communication of such device to edf.eset.com, as if such client reaches our licensing servers, it would disable you the option to generate / edit offline license files using ESET Lincese Administrator portal ( For more details about this process please refer to ESET License Administrator documentation:

    hxxp://help.eset.com/ela/en-US/index.html?downloading_offline_legacy_licenses.htm

I have also faced the same issue and some points are cleared with this post.

I just want to know how we can check whether the workstation is communicating with edf.eset.com or not. Because when I check ping, I didn't get ping reply.

  8. An antivirus application that scans every application and file in a computer on a real time basis. The tsf and 900 extension files are Tally files that get scanned. When voucher entries are passed and saved, it is stored in TMessage.tsf which is scanned and then pushed to Transmanager.900. This scanning delays the voucher accepting process. So, it is suggested that the Tally data folder be added to the exclusions list with their respective tsf and 900 files for antivirus to do a real time scan.

  9. This is again the manual task to do installation on 30 systems of Agent, RD sensor as well as Win Pcap.

Which requires manual intervention and consumes lot of time. Version 6 is new but its totally different and tricky than version 5.

There should be any automated solution for this issue as available in version 5

Due to this lack of this feature, we have lost 550 user license PO.
