Anyway, it seems to me that by now there is a good chance that the virus database update problem is solved. I still have to confirm this, once there is an update to the database.
Analysis:
Simply upgrading or uninstalling the software in the usual way did not really removed it, even though it claimed to. It was claimed to be removed successfully, but the ekrn process was still running after the restart.
Only the use of ESET's EsetUninstaller truly removed it (do read the instructions before using it). After that, I reinstalled, activated and now it came with the recent version of the database.
I'll check later to see if it is updated, and let you know.
