Disconnected internet

No I using windows XP and when the I opening browser and typing an address on bottom-right a security alert displayed. I went to setup->network protection and saw personal firewall paused. I click to enable it but a window displayed and at menu only there is disable permanently -
hi. I downloaded and installed ESET smart security 9.0.349.14 and when the installation ended I can't access to the internet. and I removed it. then I can access to the internet. why when ESET smart security installed I can't access to the internet
