I have tried uninstalling Eset, rebooted then tried downloading the latest version. On the install I get 'The installation was not completed successfully' and install error 1603 fatal error during installation.
I know there is not malware activity as there was no issue prior to win 10 upgrade. So this has meant that I am now using Windows Defender which is not my first choice.

I found hxxp://slashgenie.com/how-to-configure-eset-on-windows-10-enable-hips/thinking that it would resolve the issue, unfortunately when I open ESET there is nothing in the window apart from the eset logo and a tick on the top.

I have recently upgraded a Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 without issue so I took the gamble that upgrading my desktop to Windows 10 from 7 would be straight forward. Unfortunately I am having the same issue as some above. Eset keeps throwing 'Error communicating with kernel' and restarting, I have had up to 8 ESET icons in my system tray up to now. I am running version 8.0.319.0 with virus signature database 12397. I have submitted a ticket but also realise we are in early days of windows 10. Has anyone managed to solve this? if so how?

Finally resolved the issue. Booted into safe mode, uninstalled via the Eset live uninstaller, ran the install again for 9 and everything seems to be running fine now.
