    2. Close Thunderbird
    3. Launch Thunderbird
    4. Re-enable SSL filtering.

    Thank you so much Kathryn. This worked for me. Spent most of the day on the phone with my ISP and checking Thunderbird settings, all with no luck. Then I stumbled upon this thread.
