In fact, I connect via a hotel's wifi.  So that is the reason.  I will try some other form of connection.

I have this message (in French) in NOD32 antivirus: ""Les informations de mise à jour ne sont pas cohérentes"", meaning that update informations are inconsistent.  Updates are blocked.  Sorry, I don't know the English language equivalent of this message.

The message cannot be found anywhere on this forum, or anywhere on the net.  I am blocked from updating.  My license is still valid for two months.
