Hi All !

I have a big issue with ESET Mail Security for Linux. esets_cli does not detect virus.

root@mail:/home/esets# /opt/eset/esets/bin/esets_cli -v
/opt/eset/esets/bin/esets_cli (esets) 4.5.5

root@mail:/home/esets# /opt/eset/esets/bin/esets_cli IMG\(724\).zip
/home/esets/IMG(724).zip: action="accepted"
/home/esets/IMG(724).zip: virus="is OK"
/home/esets/IMG(724).zip » ZIP » M6teGyb.wsf: virus="is OK"

but if I have the same file per email locally, my local antivirus NOD32 Vers 9 for Windows finds

__________ ESET NOD32 Antivirus warning, version of virus signature database 14072 (20160905) __________

Warning, ESET NOD32 Antivirus found the following threats in the message:

IMG(724).zip - a variant of JS/Danger.ScriptAttachment trojan - deleted

hxxp://www.eset.com

How comes ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Vlad.

ESET Antivirus for Windows detected the malware in an email message. The email scanner on Windows system uses stronger heuristics and detections which is why it can detect more than other scanners. After a signature update, EMSL should detect it as well. Maybe stronger heuristics and detections will employed by EMSL v6 but it's too early to say that for sure at this point.
