uninstalling none ESET applications via task

Recommended Posts

I am trying to uninstall applications on clients using a client task. I have the policy set so that I can see all installed applications on clients. When I try to set up a software uninstall task the only applications I can see are the ESET products. Is there another policy setting that needs to be changed to allow me to select non ESET applications?

ESET Remote Administrator (Server), Version 6.4.295.0

Did you create an agent policy with the "Report non-ESET installed applications" option enabled and wait 2 connection cycles for the information about all other installed applications to propagate to the ERA server after assigning the policy to a group or a computer ? You could send wake-up calls to speed it up but after the first one wait at least 1-2 minutes so that the agent has enough time to gather the desired information.

Please got to client's detail view -> installed applications and verify that client is reporting also non-ESET application as set in policy. I cannot verify but I think there was found a issue in ERA 6.4 that prevented selection of non-ESET applications during software uninstallation task creation.

Possible (untested) workaround for this issue: create uninstallation task from previously mentioned view (list of client's installed applications) -> once you select application you wish to remove, cuse "Uninstall" in the bottom of dialog. It will create software uninstallation task and execute it on this specific client - you can edit it and also schedule it to be executed on other clients.

I do have the agent policy enabled and I am able to see the other applications.

Thanks.

The issue is that when creating the "software uninstall task" and choosing the option "uninstall application from list" there is not an option to choose other than ESET application. There is a bug in the current webconsole released with ERA 6.4, which will be fixed in a standalone webconsole release during next few days. We will let you know, when it is released.

Thank you for the information regarding the issue in ERA 6.4. I can confirm that your workaround did work and I was able to successfully remove an application by following the steps you outlined.

What issue are you currently having as you have confirmed that now you see all installed applications?

As MichalJ said "The issue is that when creating the "software uninstall task" and choosing the option "uninstall application from list" there is not an option to choose other than ESET application."

By following the instructions for a possible workaround supplied by MartinK in an earlier reply, I was able to successfully create and run a uninstall task for a non ESET application.
