ekrn.exe CPU Usage Troubleshooting

I have a user that is reporting high cpu usage with the ekrn.exe process. The ekrn.exe process seems to get stuck between 30-75% CPU usage and never lets go.

What's the best way to go about troubleshooting CPU usage with the ekrn.exe process to figure out what is going on?

In the case of high CPU utilization, start off by temporarily disabling real-time protection and see if the problem goes away. If so, re-enable it and create a Process Monitor .

Thanks Marcos. I was able to create a ProcMon log file when the issue was occurring for my user before. What's the best way to go about analyzing the file?

This issue is coming up again for more users. What is the best way to figure out why ESET is using so much CPU? The ProcMon log file has a ton of information, but not sure the best way to read it to understand what is going on.

If temporarily disabling real-time protection actually makes a difference, compress the Procmon log, upload it to a safe location and pm me the download link.
