10 Beta seems stable enough for daily use?

Hi,

 

I would really like to give it a try to see how Eset is upcoming.

 

Notification email for latest Beta told me only some small bugs, webcam protection for example, so might it be ok to put the version on a daily system already?

 

Or are there some major bugs not written there? )

Hi @LameCat,

 

Let me put this straight, >Never< use a software in state of transition

to final release (Beta, Alpha, etc versions) for daily use.

 

Always use the last public version (stable) release by the vendor, is

more safe.

 

The Beta versions (or any kind of that) is a program with bugs (as you

mention) and other things, and some times are not-stable and

unpredicted.

Thas why, if you want to test the ESET Betas, install Oracle Virtual machine

(I believe is the easy one to manage) in you PC, create a Virtual one and

try ESET there.

 

Let me put a "worst case scenario" to make this more clear
 

You are testing "Super Encryption 3.01 Beta" from "NeverExist Software Corp",

in your personal PC of daily use.

This beta software is a powerful encryption software who help you keep you personal

data safe from others, using newly discovered math algorithms.

One day, the software fails and you cannot access your personal data. The

company says they cannot do anything for you to recover the data because

unfortunately that particular algorithm was unstable and is no longer use.

Also, as part of the Beta program they don't have any responsibility related

to your unfortunately case. "Our deeply sorry for your lost, but we cannot help you."

 

Again: Beta software is Not recommended to be use on personal PC.

 

If you want to do it, is your call.

Did you do a clean install or install over v9 ?

I never do that. After installing Windows and all my stuff, I take an image using Macrium Reflect and name that image "Before AV" then I play with whatever AV I want.

 

To me, nothing beats a pure fresh install so if I do face any issue, I don't sit and think hmmmm, maybe it was because of a conflict of the previous AV

Yes I would normally do a clean install as routine, I just wondered if you'd tried installing over the top of version 9.

I've had NOD32 v10 beta installed for 24 hours now and it's running very well.

The new GUI suits Windows 10 very nicely and it seems as lightweight on resources as varsion 9

No errors relating to it showing up in Event Viewer. I'm happy to use this as my regular AV until v10 final is released.

I noticed that 3 of the modules were updated today.

Been using version 10 for a week now with no issues found

Based on the incredible reviews and some testing I did in a VM I decided to put this on my live machines. It is more responsive than ESS 9 and I don't miss the Anti-Theft. I'm still on the first day but liking it so far. I still hate this forum though for the fact that it once again lets me type a reply but doesn't tell me I'm not logged in until I click post and it dumps my text.

When I installed the beta 10 of EIS on my laptop it activated with a beta license. When I installed it on my desktop, it failed to activate. I was able to activate it with my retail key, so not a big deal, I guess. Just reporting it, don't know how much it matters.
