Mack 1 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Wallaby, I started having the same problem last night. I have the same version as you. Everything else seems to be working ok, though. What was weird was when I fired up my PC after coming home from work and signed in, I had a message from Nod32 stating that I was signed in under a temporary profile, and whatever files generated would be deleted upon my leaving. They also said to try back a little later and see if I could sign in to my real account. This prompted me to reboot and sign in again, at which time I got my real profile back. I checked my Nod32 thoroughly, and found the problem you described. I used Task Manager to try and end it, and got the spinning hurricane thingy for about 15 minutes before getting a prompt from Nod asking if I wanted to exit. I exited, and restored the computer to 2 days ago. That did nothing, as the problem persisted and continues as we speak. Nice to hear I am not the only one experiencing this, which suggests a system wide problem.
Administrators Marcos 5,443 Posted April 22, 2016 Administrators Posted April 22, 2016 That could happen if there are way too many records in a log. However, under normal circumstances there's no chance you'd get thousands of records in logs. What's the size of the file "C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Logs\urllog.dat" ?
Mack 1 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I will have to see when I get home, I posted my reply from work and get off midnight Central time.
Mack 1 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Ok, Marcos, the size is 3.46 KB (3,544 bytes), size on disk 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)
Wallaby 1 Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Mine is 792 bytes (4.096 bytes on disk) There are only 2 entries inside May I delete manually that urllog.dat file without messing up the PC? I forgot to say that when the GUI hangs, the CPU goes to 25% (I have a 4 core i5 CPU, Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium 64bit)
MCohen 0 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Same here - ESET NOS32 Antivirus 8.0.319.0 urllog.dat = 3,814 bytes Should I set urllog.dat to delete on next boot?
Administrators Solution Marcos 5,443 Posted April 25, 2016 Administrators Solution Posted April 25, 2016 Try to just rename the file in safe mode or after temporarily disabling self-defense and restarting the system. If you are able to reproduce it with a particular urllog.dat file, please drop me a pm with the log file attached.
Wallaby 1 Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 It seems that the problem (at least as far as I am concerned) it is no more present, without doing anything I went to "filtered webistes" and nothing happened, so I could delete all the entries without any hang Maybe it was a problem with one module that, in the meantime, has been updated... or maybe God knows why.
