False Positive

Recommended Posts

One of the software modules for our Remote Utility software is currently detected by Eset and only Eset on VirusTotal.

Its an administrator console and cannot work as a remote admin so there is NO sense for Eset to treat it badly as a riskware.

I've already sent an FP request multiple times regarding this issue and I've never received a reply. Looking for some explanation here.

First of all, this forum does not serve as a means for reporting false positives to ESET. For instructions, refer to hxxp://support.eset.com/kb141/.

The detection is correct - tools that have been seen to be misused for malicious purposes (e.g. remote admin tools, password or serial number finders, etc.) are classified as potentially unsafe applications. This detection IS DISABLED BY DEFAULT in ESET's products, however, those who want to keep such software away from their systems without knowledge (e.g. administrators) can opt for detection.

Having said that, we'll draw this topic to a close.
